Petronas launches Sprinta lube with ride to Phuket

To celebrate the launch of Petronas Sprinta with Ultraflex in Thailand, a cross-border ride with 35 Malaysian bikers was held over the Songkran festival weekend in conjunction with Phuket Bike Week. With the tagline “Experience to Believe”, the convoy was flagged off by Petronas vice president of Downstream Marketing from the Petronas station at Technology Park Malaysia on April 10.

paultan.org readers were invited on behalf of Petronas to apply to join the ride, with a lucky 15 riders being successful. As part of the ride, riders got a free change of lubricant to Petronas Sprinta before the flag-off.

Led by Mohd Khalid Mohd Latiff, Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) Asia-Pacific regional head, the convoy travelled north to Hat Yai for an overnight stay. During the journey, a stop was made at a Petronas Sprinta dealer in Hat Yai, where riders were hosted and interviewed about the performance of Petronas Sprinta lubricants used in their bike’s engines.

The journey continued the next day, with a lunch stop at Krabi, before crossing the Sarasin bridge into Phuket at dusk. At the launch of Petronas Sprinta at Patong Beach where Phuket Bike Week is held, Giuseppe D’Arrigo, group chief executive officer of PLI said Sprinta lubricants were developed specifically for the needs of riders and their machines.

“Regardless of its purpose, extensive usage and exposure to heavy traffic puts a lot of stress on the engine,” said D’Arrigo. Designed to provide reduced engine stress and longer bike life, Petronas Sprinta was developed in the newly launched Petronas Global Research and Technology Centre in Turin, Italy.

With a goal of being one of the world’s top five lubricant and mechanical fluids suppliers by 2019, the launch of Petronas Sprinta with Ultraflex in Thailand signals Petronas’ commitment to the Asia-Pacific market as a lubricant supplier, as well as globally. Petronas Sprinta comes in several versions – F900, F700, F300 – to suit different performance applications and size of motorcycle engine.
