Mercedes-Benz may soon be introducing its first ever A-Class Sedan, but the sleeker CLA isn’t dead. Our spy photographers have once again caught the small, swoopy four-door “coupé” on the Nürburgring, now wearing less camouflage and betraying a number of differences over its more practical sibling.
The curved, low-slung roofline is the most noticeable denominator, but there are other detail changes that can be seen, such as the new rear end design with trapezoidal tail lights and bumper-mounted number plate recess – a look that has been borrowed from the larger CLS. The headlights are also new and are tapered towards the grille, rather than the other way around on the A-Class, giving the car a more aggressive look.
Riding on the new Modular Front Architecture 2 (MFA2) that also underpins the latest A-Class, the CLA is expected to get all of that car’s new technologies, such as the new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) and the optional large displays that dominate the A-Class’ funky interior. A Shooting Brake wagon variant will likely arrive later on, along with higher-performance AMG CLA 43 and 45 models.
As for the standard version, the engine lineup will likely be all new and include the Renault-derived M282 1.33 litre turbo petrol mill in the CLA 200 and the in-house M260 2.0 litre petrol and OM608 1.5 litre diesel in the CLA 250 and CLA 180 d respectively. Six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch (7G-DCT) transmission options should remain, with a Getrag DCT for the CLA 200 and CLA 180 d replacing Mercedes’ own unit.

Nowadays, Mercedes exterior design looks like very old grandfather design. Not only that, Mercedes only have 4 years unlimited warranty compared to almost all car manufacturer company have 5 years unlimited warranty. Mercedes Benz also paid fatter fines due to cheated emissions regulators with defeat devices.
Why new CLA becoming uglier ?
