Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has announced the introduction of the 2018 model year Jaguar F-Type Coupe in the country, and while there are minor updates to the exterior and interior, the big ticket item is the arrival of the 2.0 litre turbocharged Ingenium engine variant – which was announced in April last year – into the fold here.
The direct-injection 2.0 litre petrol unit offers 300 PS at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 1,500 – 4,500 rpm, and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels, the variant does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds, all the way to an electronically-limited 250 km/h top speed.
Other mechanical revisions include a change in the spring rates – reduced by four percent in front and three percent at the back to compensate for the reduction in corner weights – as well as a revision to the valving of the monotube dampers to improve the balance of ride comfort and handling, incorporating info gleaned from the F-Type SVR programme.
Exterior revisions for the 2018 MY car include new LED designs for the headlight and rear lights as well as a redesigned bumper, a new single exhaust tailpipe finisher and a new 18-inch wheel design. Also to be found is a new exterior colour called Silicon Silver.
Inside, the F-Type now comes with lighter slim-line seats, the use of pressure-cast die-cast magnesium alloy for the seat frames resulting in a weight saving of around 8 kg over the previous seat. Elsewhere, the car gets new trim in the form of chrome and aluminium accent finishers as well as enhanced interior colour schemes, which now includes the availability of the Siena Tan leather option across the range.
There’s also a Touch Pro infotainment system, standard fit across the F-Type range. The system is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen and features a powerful quad-core processor, a high-speed 60 GB solid-state drive (SSD) and an ultra-fast Ethernet network, among other things
The 2018 F-Type 2.0L Ingenium is priced at RM575,800 (excluding road tax, registration and insurance), and comes with a ‘Jaguar Care’ programme incorporating a five-year/150,000 km warranty and five-year/65,000 km servicing (whichever comes first) as well as a three-year roadside assistance programme.
