Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-door Coupe – entry-level GT

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe has gone on sale in home market of Europe, and is now also available in GT 43 4Matic+ guise, where it is powered by a version of the turbocharged inline-six cylinder engine in the GT 53 4Matic+. In this form, the GT 43 produces 367 hp between 5,500 rpm and 6,100 rpm, while peak torque of 500 Nm is produced between 1,800 rpm and 4,500 rpm.

This is complemented by the EQ Boost starter-alternator motor for an additional 22 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and drive is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission. As with the AMG GT 53 4Matic+, the EQ Boost starter-alternator is linked to an electric auxiliary compressor which assists the turbocharger at low revs. The GT 43 4Matic+ does the 0-100 km/h run in 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 270 km/h.

On the aesthetics front, the GT 43 4Matic+ is largely identical to its more powerful sibling, the GT 53 4Matic+, which outputs 429 hp and 520 Nm of torque. As such, the GT 43 can also be specified with exterior packages including the Night, Chrome, Aerodynamic and two Carbon-Fibre options. Likewise, the full range of light-alloy wheel options are available for the GT 43, ranging from 19 to 21 inches in diameter.

The classic AMG-style five spoke alloys on display here are sure to catch attention too. The GT 43 also employs active aerodynamics with the Airpanel air control system in front, along with the extending rear spoiler. Inside, the full range of individualisation options for the GT 4-Door range are available for the GT 43 as well, which includes interior layouts for four or five seats.

Further options include the AMG Track Pack for those more inclined towards closed circuits, where onboard access to track telemetry is available. In Germany, the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4Matic+ is priced from 95,259 euros (RM462,206), while the GT 53 4Matic+ is priced from 109,182 euros (RM529,785).
