C257 Mercedes-Benz CLS350 introduced – RM571k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia now has a third variant in its local C257 Mercedes-Benz CLS line-up. In August, the company introduced the CLS 450 and the AMG CLS 53 4Matic+, and had announced that the CLS 350 was set to join the range towards the end of the year. The latter is now officially on sale.

Where the CLS 450 is powered by a M256 3.0 litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder unit with 362 hp at 5,500 to 6,100 rpm and 500 Nm from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm, the CLS 350 is equipped with a M264 2.0 litre turbocharged four-pot, offering 295 hp at 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 400 Nm from 3,000 to 4,000 rpm.

Like the CLS 450, the CLS 350 also features a 48-volt lithium-ion on-board power network, which supplements the 12-volt system by supplying additional power for required components and provides additional boost for a short period. Here, the EQ Boost system offers 150 Nm of torque and 10 kW (14 hp) of assist, slightly less than the 250 Nm and 16 kW (21 hp) found on the 450’s 48V system.

Paired with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, performance figures for the variant include a 0-100 km/h time of 6.0 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed. In terms of exterior presentation, the CLS 350 comes with an AMG Line bodystyling package and rides on 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke alloy wheels, and standard fit items include Multibeam LED headlights with adaptive high-beam assist plus.

As for interior features and equipment, the CLS 350 features an AMG Line interior, with designo piano lacquer trim panels in black – complete with flowing lines – and a piano black centre console as well as black fabric roof lining. Standard equipment includes a sport steering wheel dressed in Nappa leather, 64-colour premium ambient lighting and illuminated door sill panels with Mercedes-Benz lettering.

Other items include a surround view camera, wireless mobile phone charging and a COMAND Online navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, with a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system in tow. As for pricing, the Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 goes for RM570,888 on-the-road, without insurance.

Oh damn they finally installed a small 2.0 litre engine into the CLS 350. Gone are those smooth V6 3.0 engines. Gonna look tiny inside the engine bay which is long and wide for bigger engines. Just look at how long the bonet is.
