Audi Q2 1.4 TFSI arrives in Malaysia – RM219,900 OTR

The Audi Q2 has finally arrived in Malaysia, following its debut at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) last November. Pegged at RM219,000 on-the-road without insurance for private registration, the Audi Q2 comes in a sole sport 1.4 TFSI variant.

As the name suggests, this is powered by a 1.4 litre turbo four petrol engine producing 150 hp from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm. Transmission is via an S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Configured thus, the Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI does the century sprint in 8.5 seconds, while top speed is 212 km/h. Rated fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 5.3 l/100 km, while combined CO2 emissions is rated at 122 g/km. Rolling stock comprises 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels shod in 215/55R17 tyres all around.

Here, the kit for the Audi Q2 includes LED headlights with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), headlight washers, LED combination tail lamps with dynamic turn signals, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors with heating, and parking aid plus with rear view camera system. Aesthetic trim for the exterior includes side blades in ice silver metallic.

On the inside, the cabin gets manual sports seats for the front occupants with height adjustment also available for the front passenger, leather/leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, front centre armrest, folding rear seat backrests, an interior light package and inlays finished in red anodised paint.

Safety equipment for the Q2 includes six airbags, electronic stability control, an electronic vehicle immobiliser, tire pressure monitoring system, power-operated child safety lock, hill hold assist, Isofix child seat anchor points with top tethers for the outer rear seats, a frameless, self-dimming interior rearview mirror, deactivation switch for the front passenger airbag and a tool kit with vehicle jack.

Infotainment for the Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI includes MMI navigation plus, a six-channel, 10-speaker Audi sound system with 180 watts of output, Bluetooth connectivity and the Audi Virtual Cockpit.

Further comfort and convenience equipment also includes Audi drive select (drive modes), comfort-oriented suspension, electro-mechanically operated parking brake, progressive steering, comfort access key, automatic stop-start, cruise control, heat-insulating side and rear window glass, and a rain/light sensor for automatic wipers and lighting.

Buyers of new Audis purchased through official channels in Malaysia will get a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty backing, from the four-year/120,000 km warranty coverage offered previously.

At his price, many will just buy a 2017 X5 40e for about RM250k.

Many will just pay a bit more to get a proper SUV.

This is actually a smaller Tiguan with 4 rings and costs 60k more. Only upside is it has a better sound system over the VW.

Sorry audi it’s hideous and lack of tech here and there .. for that price tag? Duh. Audi always mark themselves higher and premium compared to BMW and Merc.
