SPYSHOTS: Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake

With the latest Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake having made its official debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, a hotter version is in the works – seen here running road tests is likely the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake.

The business end, at least where identification is concerned, is at the Shooting Brake’s rump, where the tell-tale dual rounded exhaust outlets identify it as the middling AMG 35 model, rather than the transverse engine platformed range-topping AMG 45 version, which has thus far featured quad rectangular tailpipe trim.

Assuming it wears the same model designation, the AMG 35 Shooting Brake will be powered by the same M260 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol four as in the A 35 hatchback, in which it produces 306 hp from 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 4,000 rpm. Transmission is via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox, sending drive to all four wheels.

The interior of the hotter long-roofed CLA can be expected to be near-identical to that of the just-launched X118-generation CLA, which boasts the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment setup with a dual digital display.

    • It still needs to be downsized for R5 competition and this engine still not yet able to mate with the sequential shift gearbox.

This is the problem with Proton and why Proton does not improve. Proton and its fanboys think their Iriz is SAMA TARAF with AMG CLA35
