This is the new Suzuki Swift Sport Katana, a special edition model named after one of the company’s most iconic motorcycles that made a return last year. It’s an attractive bit of kit as you’ll find out later, but there are a few catches.

For starters, the SSS Katana is only available in the Netherlands with a starting price of 28,999 euros (RM134,707). Secondly, only 30 units will be offered, equally split between Premium Silver Metallic and Super Black Pearl, which are the only available body colours.

Regardless of the selected finish, all SSS Katana cars come with a bonnet stripe, door graphics, the Katana symbol just aft of the front wheels, as well as a serialised number on the C-pillars.

That’s not all, as the exterior also features red accents, black mirror caps, as well as a grey trim with a carbon-fibre look for the front bumper lip and side skirts. A set of black 18-inch Alleggerita alloy wheels from OZ (with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres) is an optional upgrade from the standard 17-inch units.

Inside, the SSS Katana gets a thicker sports steering wheel with a Katana badge, partial leather seats with Katana lettering and serialised number embroidered onto it, and more Katana branding on the door cards and floor mats.

Under the bonnet, the SSS Katana comes with a K14C 1.4 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 140 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 3,500 rpm. The Boosterjet unit sends drive to the front wheels via a prim and proper six-speed manual gearbox, and it’ll take 8.1 seconds to complete the zero to 100 km/h sprint (top speed is 210 km/h).

Also attached to the engine is a Remus sports exhaust system made from lightweight stainless steel with a black chrome end pipe. For sharper handling, the car also receives a Cusco Power Brace front strut bar and HKS Hipermax MAX IV GT sports suspension with adjustable ride height and damping.
