BMW is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the iconic M5 this year with a limited-edition model based on the current F90 M5 Competition. This is the new M5 Edition 35 Years, which will go on sale from July 2019, with just 350 units for the entire world.
To ensure the Edition 35 Jahre stands out, it gets a special Frozen Dark Grey metallic finish from BMW Individual, which includes a special pigmentation to create a silk matte surface impression. More items from BMW Individual include the Shadow Line trim package represented by the high-gloss black kidney grille, M gills and tailpipes.
There’s also a set of 20-inch M light alloy wheels in a Y-spoke design and the Graphite Grey finish for these were created exclusively for the model. Behind the wheels is the standard M compound brake system, with calipers finished in high-gloss black. For a little extra, you can have the M carbon ceramic brake system with gold-finished calipers instead.
On the inside, standard items include M multifunction seats that are upholstered in BMW Individual Merino full leather in black with beige contrast stitching. Flashier bits are the trim finishers in aluminium carbon structure gold anodized, which can be found on the main dashboard, door cards and the centre console.
There’s also an inscription “M5 Edition 35 Jahre 1/350” laser engraved on the cupholder cover, and the door sills also bear the words “M5 Edition 35 Jahre” on them.
Performance-wise, the Edition 35 Jahre retains the 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 with 625 PS (617 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. With a standard eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel drive system, the car will complete the century sprint in 3.3 seconds, and while hit the 200 km/h mark in 10.8 seconds.
