Lotus Type 130 electric hypercar to debut on July 16

Mark your calendars, boys and girls, because Lotus has just announced the official unveiling date of its first ever electric hypercar, the Lotus Type 130. Set to take place at an exclusive event in Central London on July 16, the car is also the British automaker’s first all-new model since 2008.

Today, Lotus announced that just 130 units of the electric hypercar will be made. Since its confirmation at the Shanghai International Auto Show last month, several hundred potential owners have expressed their interest in the new car. The automaker also confirmed that the Type 130 will be built at Hethel in Norfolk (the brand’s headquarters since 1966).

Apparently, the hypercar will be the most dynamically accomplished road car in the company’s history, continuing a bloodline rich in firsts and technical game-changers in automotive and motorsport.

There’s also a short video teasing the Type 130, where we get to see the car’s CCS charging port (for AC and DC charging) and a plaque that reinforces the “built in Britain” notion, both hidden away under a motorised cover. You may check out the video below to see exactly what’s in store. Can’t wait for this!

Lotus will debut their own EV soon. Where is Proton Iriz EV that debuted 6 years ago john? This is the biggest unsolved mysterious question in Malaysian automotive history

Ready & waiting for market to be ready. Lotus EV is viable since London have plenty of charging stations. What about KL?

Hello, we have been waiting for so long already. We rakyat Malaysia will not wait 30 years. Even now also, Proton just distributes China Geely cars

Only you waiting but the rest of the market isn’t ready for EV. How to charge when charging stations are few? How to continue moving when replacement battery are expensive?

John is definitely ‘coming from P1 salesman’. Proton is a game over car company. Their cars are unreliable. Perodua sells more reliable cars. Moreover, everyone loves perodua!

John, he has the right say whatever he wants. Besides, P1 is owned by Lotus anyway

P1 cars are not a good buy compared to P2 cars. You still see so many 1st generation Kancil on the road. You hardly can see and Wira on our roads nowadays. Proton cars cannot last more than P2 cars

Malaysia got few charging station because the will of those who implement EV and EEV is not there. Few years ago they asked us to move to EEV and EV but they are too not clever to implement the infrastructur.

Lotus will be ahead of Tesla in the electric supercar if it can market it by fourth quarter this year.
Tesla Roadster will be in the market on first quarter 2020.

Really is a wonder what Geely tech(i’m sure the in-car in the very least will use Geely’s if not the electric tech as well, geely money coupled with geely determination can do to Lotus in 2 yrs.
