New Lexus ES 250 open for booking, from RM300k

The new Lexus ES, which was previewed in Malaysia late last year at KLIMS 2018, is now open for booking. We’re getting the seventh-generation sedan in ES 250 form, priced at RM299,888 on-the-road without insurance for the Premium and RM332,888 for the Luxury trim level.

The new ES is an arresting sight in the metal, and it looks very much like a “baby LS”. While the exterior design is significantly more emotional and dynamic, Lexus says that it contains a more spacious (class-leading rear legroom) and refined cabin than its predecessor. That win-win is due to a wider and longer chassis – the Global Architecture – K (GA-K) is essentially Lexus’ version of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform.

Power comes from the latest 2.5 litre Dynamic Force direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, making 204 hp at 6,600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque from 4,000 to 5,000 rpm. It is paired to an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission sending power to the front axle.

Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+), which made its recent debut in the 2019 Lexus NX 300, is standard across the board here as well. LSS+ includes Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Stop and Go function. The Luxury version adds on three bi-beam LED headlights with Adaptive High Beam System (AHS).

The top-spec car also comes with a 10-way powered front seat, powered reclining rear seats, three-zone climate control, head-up display, 12.3-inch centre screen and a panoramic view monitor. One can choose from seven exterior colours and two interior colour schemes.

The Lexus ES is a CBU import from Japan and buyers will enjoy a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

        Better spec?

        You must be joking.

The 5 series does not even have radar cruise control (Lexus has it, it’s called DRCC) and does not have steering intervention for lane departure (Lexus has it, it’s called Lane Tracing Alert).

no logic. BMW 530e has a more advance engine and is far more expensive in overseas but here, it is cheaper than the Lexus

Somemore BMW give 7% corporate discount.

UMW is typical GLC. They don’t know how to price their products

If you have no plans to go fast like a Volvo or BMW this Lexus is a good steal. I’ve seen this in the metal during the KLIMS 18 show and it’s a looker on the outside and inside.

Is nobody else bothered by the super fugly grille on this Lexus? Or many of the new cars out there as well (BMW X7?)

I sure hope this trend dies very quickly

At RM300k you get a CBU car direct from Lexus Japan. Say what you want but the Italians and Germans can’t match it for reliability and it is definitely not a CKD Camry like some of the readers here say.
