The W213 Mercedes-Benz E 300 Exclusive Line was launched in Malaysia back in March this year alongside the E 200 SportStyle Avantgarde as well as the E 350 AMG Line, and we’re now bringing you a full gallery of the E-Class variant.

Price-wise, the E 300 – this takes over from the previous E 250 Exclusive Line – retails at RM379,888 on-the-road without insurance. For that money, you’ll get a M264 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 254 hp (258 PS) at 5,800 rpm and 370 Nm from 1,800-4,000 rpm.

This is paired with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, and the E 300 will get from zero to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250 km/h. Other driving-related bits include Agility Control suspension and Dynamic Select, the latter allowing drivers to adjust the characteristics of the cars’ steering and powertrain in line with the selected drive mode.

As the variant name suggests, the E 300 comes fitted with the Exclusive exterior styling package, which is complemented by 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels Multibeam LED headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

On the inside, there’s Nappa leather upholstery with lining in Artico leather, brown high gloss wood trim and high gloss brown ash trim for the centre console, a Thermatic climate control system, powered front seats, Widescreen Cockpit (two 12.3-inch displays), ambient lighting, a multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather and wireless charging.

Other items include a COMAND Online infotainment system with touchpad controller and a Burmester sound system, 360-degree camera, Lane Tracking Package, Keyless-Go, Hands Free Access, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist and Active Parking Assist.

If performance is your main criteria then yes its a much better buy but if ride comfort is your thing I’ll have you know the E300 rides tonnes better than the E350 and this is with experience having driven them back to back at the Kinrara showroom and along the bumpy stretch of road in bukit jalil. The E300 rides much more like a traditional Mercedes while the E350 is just crashy and bumpy.

But doesn’t the E350 come with adaptive suspension? Quirkily enough, the C300 AMG, a tier lower, has actual air suspension.

MBM has downgraded customers’ expectations for this price level and possibly a show stopper for many potential buyers – Having the archaic thermatic A/C system with only vents for back passenger seats. What a bummer for such premium cars
