Special funds will be made available for Malaysian racer Hafizh Syahrin to campaign in the 2020 Moto2 racing season. This was announced by Youth and Sports minister Syed Saddiq at launching the national sports legend commemorative gold bars by the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) at KBS Gallery.
Funding for Hafizh’s race season with Angel Nieto team will be channeled through Sepang International Circuit, reports The Malay Mail. “I have contacted Datuk Razlan Razali (SIC chief executive officer) and I will ensure Hafizh would be in action in Moto2 even though Petronas did not want to sponsor him,” Saddiq said.
Hafizh had a miserable season this year with KTM Tech3 riding the KTM GP16 coming in at the back of the pack in contrast to his 2018 rookie year riding a Yamaha YZR-M1. Known to fans as “El Pescao” with the tag “Bo55ku, Hafizh will join Spaniard Aron Canet, who moves up from Moto3 after a season with the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team managed by former MotoGP champion Max Biaggi.

Come on!
sometime things don’t go as planned but at least Hafizh had the courage to step out from his confort zone
Athlete msia lain macam mana?
bebelum ini dia tak pernah mintak gov tolong, sedangkan bawa nama malaysia… atlet lain banyak habiskan duit kerajaan… orang tak bising..
not good..he should push for sponsorship not governments money
Spot on!
2020 will be the last season for him if he not get the good result, Push Hafizh, must push hard, you had no choice, I support you all the time.
Is he representing M’sia, or is he a private citizen venturing into enterprise overseas?
If the former, then he should get aid. If the latter, well, find your own sponsorship and stand on your own!
How come the lady on “Shark Tank” did not get a sen from the gumbiment? (and from my taxes, by extension)
bebelum ini dia tak pernah mintak gov tolong, sedangkan bawa nama malaysia… atlet lain banyak habiskan duit kerajaan… orang tak bising..
He had a good debut season, finishing second in the Rookie of the Year standings, four points behind Italy’s Franco Morbidelli.
But this year has been one to forget as Hafizh struggled to gel with Tech3’s KTM machine after switching from Yamaha.
Thats mean Yamaha is much better than KTM not about Hafiz alone.
SIC team should replace him with Quartararo in 2021 to show what he can achieve!
