Seat moves into two-wheeler market with eScooter

With electrification taking big strides in both the two-wheel and four-wheel urban markets, Spanish car maker Seat is not wanting to be left behind. To be presented at the 18th Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress, the Seat eScooter will be equivalent in power to a 125 cc scooter.

Market launch for the eScooter is expected to be in 2020 and is part of the Volkswagen Group’s micromobility strategy. For Seat, this includes the Seat Minimo concept car and the eXS kickscooter powered by Segway, introduced in 2018.

Seat President Luca de Meo said efficient mobility is the main challenge in large cities and the eScooter is a step forwards in its micromobility plans for densely populated urban areas. Developed in collaboration with Barcelona-based electric motorcycle maker Silence, the Seat eScooter will be marketed to both private customers and sharing fleets.

So while SEAT will be losing their brand name for cars, they are desperately reinventing themselves for mopeds. A big downfall for their brandname. Lucky Proton didn’t partner with VW like SEAT or it would have drop down to become a kapcai maker instead. Cukur for Geely equal partnership.

    • Possibly you’re not aware that Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are selling bicycles with their brand name in other countries.
