Along with celebrations for its sixth Formula One Constructors’ title, Petronas unveiled a new look for its MyMesra website for consumers as well as for businesses. The revamp is part of the company’s work towards improving its interaction with the public, which the website is a big part of, said Petronas Dagangan Berhad MD and CEO Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.
A significant part of this is the Mesra Virtual Agent, or MeVA, which is an artificial intelligence assistant that will answer questions from customers. This helps the experience feel more interactive from a customer’s point of view, says Syed Zainal Abidin, and the website is also now more multimedia-intensive.
Here, the information available covers Petronas products ranging from fuels, lubes, cooking gas, card services and loyalty programme, car care products and EV charging stations. For example, users of the website can find the Petronas stations closest to their current location and what products and services are offered at said locations. Similarly, one can search by availability of EV chargers, and the relevant stations will emerge in the search results.
What about a mobile app, given how commonplace smartphones are, especially in urban areas? Petronas is working on one, said Syed Zainal Abidin. Development of the mobile app will continue to build upon artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in order to offer more targeted personalisation, as well as incorporate voice commands; the mobile app is expected to be ready and rolled out by mid-2020.
