2020 Volkswagen Nivus teased – first debut in Brazil

Volkswagen has teased the upcoming Nivus in a teaser video, with the “Urban Coupe” set to make its debut in 2020. The crossover will ride on the MQB platform, and will first be produced and launched in Brazil before it arrives in Europe later in 2021.

Based on the video, the crossover adopts a coupe-like roofline, with a rakish windscreen that leads to a tailgate-mounted spoiler and rather prominent shoulders. Other highlighted include being triangular fog lamps flanking a large lower intake, sweptback headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, as well as wraparound taillights.

The German carmaker has previously said that development of the model was completely done in Brazil, and will combine “sportiness with a high driving position.” Additionally, the Nivus is meant to be a more affordable offering for customers who are looking to buy into the popularity of crossover coupes.

Though there are no specifics, the Nivus for the Brazilian market is said to come with a 1.0 litre TSI engine and front-wheel drive. The mill will reportedly provide 128 PS (126 hp) when paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, with the option of a six-speed manual, albeit with a lower output of 116 PS (114 hp).

If Government vehicles and GLC vehicles did not automatically go to Petronas stations to fill up, PDRM, JPJ, Bomba, TLDM, TUDM etc etc, Petronas would have lingkup long ago

In other countries, all brands petrol station fight for Government vehicles.

If only Proton married VW, we would have this as a PRoton. Pity we are stuck with low quality China rebadged cars for now

Inferior VW have scandal-winning engine, while superior China rebadge has World Award-winning Volvo engine. I would easily take the China rebadge.

Pity Proton workers are just too incompetent to build an award winning engine so must syiok sendiri and tumpang glamour orang lain

But Proton workers knows how to build their own engine and not just be like Perodua only relying on someone else to build their engines for them. 25 years and they still dunno how to build their own engines. Malu betul wei, only know how to tumpang glamour Toyota but dunno how to make their own cars!

Maybe a cheaper entry level VW 1.0turbo compact SUV cannot match the superior and more expensive Geely X50?
