Overview
The Lexus NX is a five-seat compact executive SUV for buyers who want all-wheel drive and a choice of hybrid or petrol power. The second-generation AZ20 model, launched in 2022, starts from RM395,888 in Malaysia. Its two-variant line-up pairs an automatic transmission with AWD, but takes distinctly different approaches to performance.
NX in 2026 — what's new
The 2026 Lexus NX carries on unchanged with the NX 350h Luxury hybrid and NX 350 F Sport petrol. Both are five-seat AWD automatics. The next update is the 2027 NX facelift, which moves to a hybrid-only range. It adds a NX450h+ plug-in hybrid with a claimed 100 km WLTP electric range and DC charging, alongside revised styling and technology.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should choose the RM395,888 NX 350h Luxury. It is RM20,000 less than the NX 350 F Sport, yet its listed 317 hp exceeds the petrol model’s 275 hp, and it retains AWD and five seats. The RM415,888 NX 350 F Sport is for buyers specifically after its F Sport trim and 2.4-litre petrol power. On paper, the RM20,000 gap is for trim and a different powertrain rather than extra seats or driven wheels, so check the equipment list carefully.

Verdict
The NX keeps the choice simple: a hybrid Luxury or petrol F Sport, both with AWD and five seats. Its entry price is far above the BYD Sealion 7, Zeekr 7X and Tesla Model Y, and also exceeds the BMW iX3. But it costs less than the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and BMW X4. Pick the powertrain first; the hybrid is the lower-priced route into the range.
