Lexus Malaysia has officially announced the Lexus NX 200t Special Edition, which was first shown on the company’s Facebook page last month. The SE wears a sportier appearance for slightly more money than the entry-level NX 200t, which gets a massive spec boost for the same price.
The model year 2017 NX range is made up of the original five variants plus the SE that slots between the base NX 200t and the NX 200t Premium. It now reads like this: NX 200t, NX 200t Special Edition, NX 200t Premium, NX 200t Luxury, NX 200t F Sport and the NX 300h. Except for the NX 300h hybrid, all are powered by a 2.0 litre turbo engine with 235 hp and 350 Nm.
Lexus says that while the technical specs are unchanged, the practice of kaizen (constant improvement) means that there may be small changes made to parts to make them more durable or operate more efficiently. These minor model year improvements are typically not made public.
The NX 200t now comes with the model’s distinctive triple L-shaped full LED headlamps and LED cornering foglamps (LED/halogen combo and no fog lamps previously). Also in are auto wipers (rain sensor), Lexus Smart Card keyless entry, new 18-inch wheels in a five-spoke design (up an inch) and a powered hatch.
The entry variant also gains a panoramic glass roof, along with the NX 200t SE and NX 200t F Sport. An unchanged sticker price of RM309,900 on-the-road excluding insurance means that the base NX 200t – no longer looking low rent – is significantly better value than before.
The NX 200t SE (pictured here) is based on it, but blacks out the normally chrome spindle grille frame. On the sides, the wheels and wing mirror caps have a similar dark theme; the latter apes the F-Sport and replaces body colour. Inside, the SE sports some (but not all) dark trim pieces. It is priced at RM311,900, which is essentially RM2,000 extra for darkened bits. The chrome-averse among us might find it worthwhile.
All NX variants can be had in five colours – Sonic Quartz, Platinum Silver, Sonic Titanium, Graphite Black Glass Flake and Red Mica Crystal Shine. Lava Orange Crystal Shine and Heat Blue are exclusive to the F Sport. The latter colour, an F Sport signature, uses a four-layer paint process.
The prices for the other models are unchanged from 2016. The NX 200t Premium is priced at RM340,800, the NX 200t Luxury RM361,900, the NX 200t F Sport RM387,900 and the NX 300h at RM397,800. All Lexus Malaysia cars come with five years of unlimited mileage factory warranty. The NX 300h adds on an eight-year battery warranty.

i think the mazda cx9, at rm317k, is a better buy.
a better bargain than the cx9. Mazda please lowered your price for the cx9
Why the tachometer display not same as IS !!!!
At least I saw one luxury item in this so-called luxury brand Lexus, panoramic glass roof, a good start from Lexus Malaysia.
the interior designers should be shot… and any survivors should be shot again.
Blackened or not, NX is still the low rent version. RX200t with adaptive suspension is the one to get.
Might as well topup abit and go for the much more prestigious RX line-up
Oni a glorified toyota, meh
For a car that’s priced RM400K, 235 hp is really not good value for money. Priced like a terrace house in Selangor. Rich people, hardworking people, poor people, don’t buy it. Without power its essentially an oversize plastic van with bad hp.
Taiwan is selling RM160 for this. But no turbo.
