Overview
The MINI Electric J01 is the all-electric MINI Hatch, launched in 2024 as a four-seat B-segment electric hatchback. It suits buyers who want the MINI shape and EV drive in a small package, and who are prepared to pay above mainstream electric hatchback money. Prices start from RM193,888.
Electric in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the regular MINI Electric J01 range carries on with two versions: Cooper SE and Cooper SE JCW. The latest 2026 activity is the MINI 1965 Victory Edition, a rally-homage model based on the electric JCW 3 Door from RM231k, but the core line-up remains centred on the standard Cooper SE and the more powerful JCW version.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the Cooper SE at RM193,888. It uses the same 54.2 kWh battery as the Cooper SE JCW, has 215 hp and gives the longer 402 km range. The Cooper SE JCW costs RM218,888, so the RM25,000 gap buys 254 hp and JCW positioning, but range drops to 371 km. If range matters more than punch, stay with the Cooper SE.

MINI Electric buyer's guides & reviews
Verdict
The J01 moves the MINI Hatch properly into the EV era: it is developed with GWM, built in China and keeps a recognisably MINI shape. It also answers a major old MINI Electric weakness with a much longer range. The catch is price. Even the entry Cooper SE costs more than the RM168,888 top end of same-class electric hatchback rivals, so this is a style-and-character buy, not a budget EV.
