Short piece of news. Proton Holdings and MV Agusta management met up on Wednesday to discuss MV Agusta’s future, according to Corrierre della Sera, citing sources. Proton no longer believes it’s 57.7% investment in MV Agusta is strategic, and they are likely to be seeking a buyer for it’s investment now.

i don't agree with that move. proton do make losses this year, but they are a very healthy company financially ( before somebody starts to bash me up,let me be clear "i am not talking about sales"). Obviuosly people think they are on the down due recent sales of Gen-2, but Savvy is gaining some reputation by the day. I believe proton bashers out there can't even wait for the SRM (whether to kutuk or puji, i leave that to the mass public to decide). Agusta is not making profit, but they do have the technology and the image – two things that are very difficult to achieve. I would give it a go (pumping money of course), and probably change the business scope a little bit ( small cc scooters ?) PROTON give it a go… rather than accept defeat

mv agusta was founded by an italian, count giovanni agusta who is an aeronautics entrepreneur. agusta family diversified his aeronautics business to motorcycles after his death in the early 20th century due to crisis. mv agusta today is not link in anyway with agusta/westland and bell/agusta aerospace.
pls proton bashers don't bash agusta helicopters as well. agusta aviation produces apache for british royal armed forces. their agusta A129 gunship is second of its class to their american counterpart and also platform for developing the eurocopter tiger. motorcycles does not equal helicopters and they are not like saab.
Proton shouldnt buy foreign company n wish to control everything. Its absurd as nobody will bow to company as peanut as Proton. Proton should focus on its own design team rather than buying some other company in order to transfer knowledge/design. Just hire on contract basis the respective designers, instead of troubling itself acquiring foreign company/ total control. apache in the british armed forces arsenal is built by agusta/westland under licensed by boeing. A129 mangusta was developed as the same timeline (mid 70s) as the RAH-64 apache and RAH-56 cheyenne. therefore, i say it was 2nd to the americans. the european engineers involved in A129 later brought this design basis to the eurocopter LAH program which later revamped and known as EUROCOPTER Tiger PAH-2. most of the weapons and avionics are shared due to NATO alliance.

guyz… MV Agusta is such a well known and established motorcycling company. their bikes are real good! so.. if Proton does decide to continue a relationship with MV Agusta.. i think it's good cuz if they can bring up the company again and start earning from it… why not! i say keep MV Agusta.. cuz MV Agusta bikes are damn cool! hahahahaha…

if proton can bring up MV augusta, in my opinion they should have already done so after paying so much $$$ to the original seller. proton moves to sell off the company may be a wise choice rather than still hanging on and keep burning EURO….

You can hire contract designers… but how do you know they are good or not? Like MAS hire ex BA consultant but some say he nearly got fired becos not performing at BA. Buy buying the comp. stock and barrel you got everything.
But like all corporate entity there are different companies. Although Proton owns Lotus and MV Augusta; if Proton need to use their services Proton still have to pay. So wat Proton is doing is to send eng. to work in Lotus (now) and MV Augusta (future) to learn. This local eng. who must be willing to learn (of course some are monkeys) but are paid in RM instead of Punds or Euro. Lotus/MV Augusta are then paid less.
For me i think proton need to learn from petronas. As far as i know Petronas didnt bougth any car, motorcycle, bicycle, helicopter, tanks, machine guns or what so ever company but manage to built an engine earlier than proton can came out with waja. I think if they want to buy another company better buy a plastic, fabric or whatsoever company that make or do RnD for proton build car interior with better stuff, like now most of them still look like cheap plastics. Deal with quality problem first rather than just think just making profit only – and this i think the best long time investment.

DRB Hicom buy Adnan design from Turkey lock/stock and barrel. nothing done in house. same thing with weapons, buy polish and sell back to G (not literally).

To 'outspoken'…of course we can improve MV…but the tax structure for big capacity bikes here are so high, even if they sell it…the truth, MV Agusta really a superb bike…an exotic… how many ppl can afford to buy it?…Even minibikes also kena tax…we can only become 'the best organiser'…no local hero/racers…
sell it if necessary. concertrate on car development is better.
