New Ford Fiesta coming up soon

new-fiesta-softroader.jpg

Ford will be using the recently unveiled Mazda2 platform as the base for it’s next generation Ford Fiesta, and word is that it’s going to come with a softroader option. With the likes of the CrossPolo and the Suzuki SX4, why am I not suprised?

The other conventional models will be the usual 3-door and 5-door models, but in the future Ford is considering extending the Fiesta to become a supermini-MPV, which to some might not be unimaginable, but hey, supermini-MPVs are already in Malaysia! Just take a look at the Toyota Avanza.

I wonder how this car can become a supermini-MPV as it is only a 5-seater compared to the 7-seater Avanza. Adding extra rear space to become the Fiesta Stationwagon? Hmm, that would make it look like a baby Ford S-Max MPV; a Ford S-Min perhaps. That would be nice if and would be a serious competitor for the dominating Avanza if it is priced well here in CKD form. So bored with too many Avanza on the road.

Haha, I was excited when you mentioned supermini-SUV, then, you mentioned Avanza, straight away wither. If they do come up with a supermini-SUV or whatever it is, hope it doesn't look bland like the Avanza. Might give Perodua a run for it's money as well.

MPV is a term for them to bring cars in at a lower tax bracket.

The Avanza is probably the only one that fits the Mini-MPV catogory, it is RWD and designed more suitably for carring stuff.

The rest are just butched up hatchbacks, or hatchbacks that sit more than 5.

To me, MPVs and SUVs (and that goes for SAV, AAV, etc etc) are the same thing, and you wont call a Jazz an SUV.

This Mini MPV is something like the Kenari, but with that marvelous design, I do really want one………superb looking car….very sporty.

The upcoming Nissan Livina Geniss will fit the mini MPV category too.

IMHO, a seven seater configuration is a must to be classified as MPV!

Kenari seats Four, Matrix seats Four and whereas Avanza seats Seven!

From what i know the current Fiesta seats Four, and the Mazda2 also seats Four, so i had doubts for the new Fiesta to seats Seven ???

the only way is to extend the platform….(might be?)

So, i wouldn't call the new fiesta a microMPV, miniMPV or midi MPV…. or whatever that include "MPV"!

Isn't Ford have the S-Max already in the UK? Thats a true 7 seater with sedan like performance or atleast driving it doesn't make you look like driving a school bus.
