Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3

Gran Turismo 5

Here are some photos and a video of the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 videogame. Be warned, I will not be responsible for the sudden urge to go out and buy a Playstation 3 just so you can play this game when it is released! I must say it looks even more realistic compared to Gran Turismo 3 and 4 which were Playstation 2 titles, thanks to the much higher capabilities of the Playstation 3.

For those not in the know, the Gran Turismo series is widely considered the best driving simulation available for the PlayStation and Playstation 2, and this will be the series’ first title for the PS3. Swedish rock band The Cardigans even named one of their albums after the game, as they played it alot during the album’s recording sessions. They even composed a song for the game titled “My Favourite Game”.

A first for the Gran Turismo series is a realistic in-car view which will accurately follow the design of the production car’s dashboards. Perhaps I shouldn’t say production as cars that are still concepts at this stage (but have production version spyshots though) are included in the game such as the Nissan GT-R. The sweet new Audi R8 is also available for you to trash around the track.

Anyway, more photos and two videos after the jump.

STUNNING!!! The graphics are way better than Forza 2 on the Xbox360. BTW, Paul, on the first pic, is that an Audi R8? (between the red Mercedes SL500 and the yellow TVR)

Ok….. Have to find a way to explain to the wife why there is a sudden need to buy a replacement for the Playstation2…….. ;p….

then why “we” need a new HiDEF panel….. and…and… I’m so going to make the couch my new best friend…… :(

Come to think of it, I bought the PS1 for GT, bought the PS2 just for GT4 only having it hacked after i’ve more or less completed GT4…..looks like its going to be the same way this time (again).

Haha, I'm still playing GT4 till this day. Been waiting for this game a long long time now. Also been following the press releases for images and videos as well.

It's come a long long way and I hope there will be some changes to it. Had a chance to play the GT:HD version a couple months back.

I hope there will be some changes made for this iteration of the game:

Please Polyphony Digital, heed my call:

    1) Create a faster way of accessing the garage and swapping cars

    2) Create a universal tuning house for all the cars. It's a real pain to go to each individual garage just to buy and modify something browsing through levels of menus

    3) Please oh please give an option to paint the car. I always have to either buy the same car in a different color hope to God that the next 400R I win comes in the color of my choice (Color choice is up to the game for vehicles that are won, not bought)

    4) Need bigger garage!! A 500 car garage for a game that has 700 cars isn't fair!! Need to dispose of some favorites just to make way for other cars.

    5) Please let the rims for the daily special stay. I really dislike browsing millions of times for just one nice set of rims (Not the Branded Ones, the ones that sequentially change after you buy a set of rims. I like a few there but need to browse like crazy just to get em!!)

    God speed GT5 to the PS3. I can't wait!!

    @#$%!!!!!! I think I wanna trade-in my PS2 and bring home a PS3, lol….

But there is 1 thing special about Gran Turismo. Unlike Need For Speed or most racing games, the vehicle handling is also very realistic. The braking, gear shifting and acceleration, just like driving a real car in the virtual dimension!!!!! Moreover, the addition of Ferrari models in GT5 really attracted me to get this game.

Anyway, now I’m playing NFS Carbon and Test Drive Unlimited on my PS2. The drifting on the hill is really tough in NFS Carbon, need more practice, haha! Btw, in Test Drive Unlimited I already completed all the challenges and unlocked all the houses on the island, but why it still stated there GAME COMPLETION: 83% ?????

How about GT2? At least the players are provided the option to purchase real world body kit options such as from TRD, Nismo , etc. for majority of the cars in the game.

Anyway, I do really hope they can bring back the option in GT5 rather than then the puny spolier mod that they have in GT4.

However, the more important factor is the physics engine. In that department, Forza 2 blows GT4 out of the water.

Agree with u. Even Forza 1 blows away GT4 in this department. Hopefully in GT5, the handling physics will be more accurate than ever. I’m pretty excited bout the in-car view, as similar to Project Gotham 3.

well, i think for a racing game to be nice to play with, we need to play it with steering wheel rather than game pad and i wondering is it many people playing GT using wheels?

because i find it unrealistic using game pad to play.

currently i'm playing racing game on computer using logitech momo wheel.

games that i play, rFactor, GTR2 and TOCA race driver 3.

benefits of playing PC games is can easily find online match.

came across that logitech G25 is compatible with PS3, any one who is serious in racing games should consider getting one.

GT5 does look very impressive graphics and sound wise. However, the more important factor is the physics engine. In that department, Forza 2 blows GT4 out of the water. So it will be interesting to see how GT5 compares to Forza 2 in that regard.

Look nice. These graphics plus Forza Motorsport 2 Physics, realistic driving, car damage, modifiable body kits, hundreds and hundreds of layers of paint, great online play, and online careers…

…will surely make this game the best GT series since GT2( GT3 was very bad and GT4 was a little better but original Forza took the GT series crown away in just one shot.)

Anyway, any game that can bested the 2 years old Project Gotham Racing 3 graphics is very good.

But, when is GT5 going to come out? is it going to come out in the year 2008? or early 2009?

During that time PGR4 will be out and I am sure that it will kick arses…baabbb..
