im not surprised at this at all. the ‘kakitangan sokongan’ in msia are grossly underpaid, with salaries for Grade 1 (like an office boy/helper) starting at a mere 459 bucks a month. my indon maid makes more than that, and she gets free food and lodging. even with the recent salary hike, dont expect to see ur typical civil servants upgrading their protons to BMWs anytime soon.

so, u need to sell a car, with financing restricted to monthly payments as low as 250-300 ringgit, viola! u get the 9-10 year loans. i think its a good opportunity for people just starting out working or families with low incomes, but the long term effects could be questioned. in a few years time u might see some after effects, when buyers have to top up money to sell a car, or just end up keeping it longer (less sales on new cars).

Recently the govt threatened retailers that severe action will be taken against them should they take advantage of the recent salary hike of govt staff. The govt even said that 1000 enforcement officers will be deployed to monitor prices.
They all got their new salary last Friday (did’nt you notice the massive traffic jam on Saturday?)
It’s very clear that Perodua is taking advantage of the situation as the timing of the offer and it’s exclusive nature, points to that. Are they being cautioned by the govt? Definitely NO. It’s only the small guys that get whacked by our govt.

Take into account that current automotive market is in sluggish mode, i think Viva sales is pretty reasonable at average 3K units/month but still could not outperform and beat it’s brother , the hottest cake in the market now.

Perodua expected that Viva sales will be more impressive than Myvi but it turns out differently. I think it’s time for Perodua to do their analysis and study against the market feedback before it becomes too late.

Regarding the scheme offered by the above mentioned parties, well no objection on that. I believe Malaysian consumers nowadays are wiser…so it’s up to you..

Proton is going to launch their latest Sedan soon. This is a very good and interesting indication . Perodua….you better wake up now…so that you won’t be whacked up later on.

Say most of the car is 1.0L and the average price is RM 40K with full loan x 10 years.

    Say the interest is 4.5%

    Interest for 10 years = RM 40,000 x 4.5% x 10 years = RM 18,000

    Total cost = RM 40K + RM 18K = RM 38K

Monthly installment for 100% financing is RM 38,000/120 month
    = RM 316.67 per month.

With this arrangement, it is good strategy to attract low income group from civil servants since there is zero entry cost and low monthly installment! Ha, ha, ha, ……. see whether this marketing strategy will attract the civil servants??????? But nowaday consumers is well informed and looking for value for monies! Viva is way over price small compact car.

perodua meramalkan jualan 7000~8000 unit sebulan

tapi diMalaysia kita ada 25juta… org tu la yg tengok bola.. org tu la yg tgk badminton.. org tu la yg tgk hoki

    3. kemampuan engine DVVt yg tak seperti diharapkan (over rated)
semasa Myvi dikeluarkan.. kebanyakan pembeli myvi membelinya kerana kepercayaan mana engine dvvt yg dianggap moden .penjualan myvi tinggi walaupun sebelum mereka pandu uji kereta … pendekata expectation mereka terlalu tinggi…. tetapi setelah 2 thn berada dipasaran.. komplen utama pengguna myi adala FC yg tinggi and performance yg tidak seperti diharapkan..
jadi bila kali ini viva dilengkapi dvvt /dohc atau apa pon engine yg dianggap moden… mereka lebih berhati2 dan expectation mereka tidaklah setinggi seperti mana bila myvi dilancarkan

    Interest for 10 years = RM 40,000 x 4.5% x 10 years = RM 18,000

    Total cost = RM 40K + RM 18K = RM 38K

Monthly installment for 100% financing is RM 38,000/120 month
    = RM 316.67 per month.
    —————————
    Shall be read as,

    Total cost = RM 40K + RM 18K = RM 58K

Monthly installment for 100% financing is RM 58,000/120 month
    = RM 483.33 per month.

Still consider “high” for low income group, especially those earn below RM 2K per month when factor in the fuel, maintenance, etc!

  37. 4G63T DSM said,

    August 1, 2007 @ 7:43 am

480 per month (as hypothesized by BigFish) is still prohibitive for low income groups. After road tax, insurance and fuel, (and maybe maintenance in the later years) you could easily be looking at 700-800 per month.

The root of the problem is that cars are overpriced in this country.

Having long term loans are just band aid solutions. Its like tying to mend a gunshot wound with a “handyplast”. You are still probably going to die or suffer for a long long time.

Consumers have also got to wake up a bit and have some financial education. Do you really NEED a new car when a used car will still take you to and fro work?

obviously perodua having hard time to sell viva. although interest is low 3.3% but longer loan period will not benefit buyer. i guess it is not the right strategy. we all agree that viva is overpriced, perodua should revise the price. Now perodua being boycot by consumer instead of proton as ‘urged’ by bashers here some time ago.

    hm.. p2 sudah habis modal…
they did bring us their toughest challenger..which is MyVi..

Now, P2 mungkin sudah habih modal, mereka keluarkan “keris” terlalu awal, sampaikan keris tu dah nak tumpul dah sekarang ni…

Tambahan pula, Proton is going to bring us their new born sedan.. Sedan is always a man’s car..P2 tak boleh keluarkan kereta sedan..itu sebab saya kata mereka sudah habis modal..

Kalaupun mereka akan ganti balik model Kembara, berapa ramai sangat rakyat Malaysia ni sukakan 4WD offroad??

Saya rasa, mereka sepatutnya ganti balik model perodua rusa..

hm, agaknya P2 nak jual apa ya selepas Viva?

kesian p1 psl slalu kena kutuk.. ahaha

but in this scenario i dun think p2 is losing out, i mean just assemble the car is not as costly as designing+manufacturing a car from scratch like p1 did. all they have to do is ask big bro (toyota/daihatsu) for another model to assemble je laa.. no problemo
