BMW will be shifting the production of the next generation BMW Z4 back to it’s home country of Germany instead of the current Z4’s production base in Spartanburg, US. BMW wants to make the Spartanburg plant an SUV-specialist plant of sorts. The plant currently builds the BMW X5, and the next generation X3 and X6 will also be made there.
The Spartanburg plant’s current capacity of 140,000 units is in the midst of being ugpraded to 200,000 units. It looks like BMW is really ramping up it’s SUV efforts, with even a compact X1 rumoured to be announced sometime in the future.
