Stiffer Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R “Special”

Mitsubishi has launched a new special edition of the Colt Ralliart in Japan called the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R Special, which has a special chassis that is 10% stiffer than the standard version. This is thanks to the usage of continuous welding in certain areas of the chassis as opposed to spot welding. This should enhance chassis response to steering movements.

For the 2008 model year, the 1.5 litre MIVEC turbocharged engine also has its power upped to 163 horses, compared to the previous 154 horsepower. Torque remains 210Nm at 3,500rpm. This new upgraded power levels are also available with normal non-special edition Colt Ralliart Version-R for the 2008 model year.

The Colt Ralliart, or even the standard Colt is one of the best handling Japanese B-segment hatches around, and the turbocharged version kicks up the fun level another notch higher. If I am not mistaken, they are going for about a bit under RM100k in the second hand market for a model that’s perhaps 2 to 3 years old.

the prob with the colt in msia is the price. The design is quite nice..but the price a bit expensive..i think ppl more interested to Jazz..and the rear seat is quite cramped(based on several review on colt).

*in msia, mostly the user of this segment is makcik2 or pakcik..so they just dont care about mivec..ralliart stuff..they just care about the price and brand name..so jazz is the winner.

ya, that’s true, most people will go for Jazz, or Myvi if on tight budget….

maybe Mitsubishi should bring in Colt Plus instead of baby Colt…

If Malaysians can buy any cars at lower price, shorter loan term and need to maintain them in less than 4 years at most! Any fancy cars or models can enter our market without worrying about their resale values and their maintenance after warranty expired.

But here, the prices are high, and the terms are way beyond the warranty period…making it almost impossible to buy anything but the popular brands or models!

Drive one (even the Colt Plus Ralliart) and you’ll know it’s no Jazz…definitely NOT a Myvi! Period.
