Hyundai i800

Hyundai has unveiled the Hyundai i800, which is actually the UK market name for the Hyundai H1 Starex. It will go on sale on the 20th June 2008 onwards for £19,495.

The i800 moniker most likely refers to its ability to carry 8 people comfortably with 851 liters of boot space remaining even when all 8 people are on board. Each passenger has their own individually controllable overhead vent. Admittedly it is a minibus-style MPV, but Hyundai says they have tried to give the i800 a more car-like ambiance.

The Hyundai i800 is 5,125mm long, 1,920mm wide and 1,925mm tall, and has a turning circle of 5.61 meters. Under the hood is a 2.5 liter CRDi turbodiesel engine with a variable geometry turbocharger producing 170 PS and 392Nm of torque. Hyundai says with its 75 liter tank filled with diesel, the i800 can achieve more than 900km of mileage.

A lower powered, lower spec version for more industrial usage will come later at a cheaper price.

I’ll pick this over overpriced and old-school (engine below seat) design Hiace, Urvan etc. BTW if the price is right.

This may give another beat for the tyt hiace….as they have both of the size but i800 has the advantage on luxurious interior..

Paul, any idea on the price segment for this model as we saw it in the JPJ recently?

as mentioned earlier, it has potential of being a great MPV looker such as those Elgrands or Alphards… all it needs is some nice looking bodykit n wheels, oso not to forget, lower it down a bit pls… n oh yea, white would be the best suitable color…

Yes…perfect future replacement for my current trajet. Keep the price the same as trajet & bring this diesel engine….wow 12km/liter, much better than my 10km/l trajet…finally a 7/8 seaters with enough luggage capacity. No need to use my thule roof box which i’m using when travelling wt full ppl (family + inlaws)…..will buy one of this

    add on:

    bigger wheels…..
    few LCD screens……
a bit of chrome but not too bling…..
some VIP style bodykits (like those Japan/Taiwan Elgrand and Alphard)…..

and I’m sure this MPV will be very nice!!!!

    It’s a Hyundai….

I find it weird that people associate this with an Elgrand or Alphard…

nth weird to associate it with Elgrand or Alphard since since we are talking bout the size and shape of this MPV, besides this one is known for 8 seater…

Agreed wt albagmane…anyway, hyundai have improve a lot….reliablity wise & customer service (Hyundai Sime not Kah bintang)…i rate my hyundai trajet higher (reliable + excellent cust serv from Hyundai Sime) than my Honda City (so much issues + twice send for warranty repairs in 2 yrs time + bad cust service)…anyway, from recent minivan comparison done by canadian auto, overall best rating was given to hyundai entourage/kia sedona….was rated higher compares to toyota sienna/honda odc/nissan quest/chrysler town & country/pontiac montana/mazda5 ….anyway, msian still rates japs higher but from my experience of owning both ….i rates hyundai higher

Anybody know if the seat is removable as per most minivan?

Definitely not in the league of Alphard or Elgrand. But they’re on the way. Get rid that 2 tone colours. It reminds me of Ria.
