Nissan will be displaying this quirky-looking concept car at the 2008 British International Motor Show called the Nissan Denki Cube Concept. It’s based on the Nissan Cube and uses a pure electric motor drivetrain powered by laminated lithium ion batteries.

Those who knows a little bit of Japanese or are fans of Best Denki outlets (ogling at the LCD TVs) here in Malaysia would be able to figure out now that Denki is Japanese for “electric”. More details on this concept to come during at the motorshow.

Even only at a concept-car level,- seriously speaking, why would any manufacturer produces such quirky looking car? To gauge market perception? It’s going to be bad – no doubt about that. To explore new design possibilities? – What possibilities are there? Certainly not on streamlining –its going to have terrible CD value, putting further strain on its electric motor. Lots of internal space? Ease of ingress – egress? Both don’t seem to offer anything even remotely superior compared to that of existing cars..

I really have no idea. It’s beyond me!

This car is conceptually intended for urban, stop-go driving style. The car’s size is small-ish for tight spot manuverability. If the car seem boxy for some ppl (afterall, it’s still a concept), please understand that the car is not built for highway, highspeed cruising. so Cd may not be of highly concern. It’s intend to be driving within city limits where speed seldom exceed 3-figures.

It’s true! I like the Juara too!! ;)

Hey Oshkosh!! Long time no see… let’s do another Cube meet la… sorry I missed the last one.

Price of the Cube3/Mitsuoka mBox? Now you can get a brand new albeit 2006 model new from Able Auto at around 90k I think. Visit the showroom on Jalan 222 or Jalan University.

some will just hate this car cause their mind set is already at that level. Like wise, if you like this car then you would think this is a cute car!

The so-called “lightning” pattern is the internationally accepted icon for eletricity. Notice the danger signs on electric fences? Hence an electric car should have such an icon, at least at concept stage. In production I’ll think its tacky.

    neveraproton,
i own a cube too..is there really a club for Cube in k.l??

for me, the car design is revolutionary…its for those who dare to go right, when evry1 else turn left…

and 30 litres can go as far as 450km on a heavy 17″… and in Japan, sales figure for this car is quite high…maybe malaysian still need some time to open up their mind…
