UPDATE: Nissan Navara with 174 PS launched in Malaysia! – follow the link for full information on prices, specifications and photos!
Edaran Tan Chong Motors Sdn Bhd will be launching the Nissan Navara before the end of the year, and the new pick-up truck will be a fully imported CBU model, revealed its executive director Datuk Dr Ang Bon Beng in a report by Bernama.
There are also on-going talks with Nissan for more fuel efficient compacts to be brought in. This likely means moving downmarket and offering cars smaller than the Latio such as the Nissan Pino, Nissan Note, and Nissan Moco (rebadged Suzuki MR Wagon).

Wah. it is like they gonna go head to head with the national carmakers. Still, it hinik MITI will not approved them to CKDed those small cars. remember the infamous Alado’s case some few times ago.
The Clipper is probably a Mitsu townbox rebadge.
so this is the 4X4 with almost no Star in NCAP???
So I guess it would be between 3.0L to 3.5L engine on this one? It has got to be the highest capacity for the truck to compete with the Triton3.2L … right? And looking at the amount of torque, the Triton is no match..
specs are available here: its a 2.5 liter

they shold bring in qashqai/dualis, not this unenvironmental friendly monster
a proper and tough-looking truck to go against D-Max and Ranger, cool…..
hopefully it comes with 2.5 or 3.0 engine :-)
wilson ho :
it is not a almost no star car already
it got 3 star with the airbag control softwere edit
the software who cause the airbags deploy slower than it should
so the safety have gone down
now the nissan already replace with a new software
tat issue is no more
At this time when Oil Prices are so high, I am sure it won’t be selling as much as it would like to.
Just another part of the invasion plan by the Japanese only this time they will succeed. Tora!Tora!Tora!
yes.. its most powerful in class and 2.5L engine! all is tuning..
mct:
means the chasis has nothing to do with the “almost no star issue”?
woo,
finally Nissan waking up and refreshing their lineup.
time for the dragon to roar.
most powerful pick up 2.5 liter in the class. 170hp.
nice.
chasis got no problem but the interior got problem as the material and the design are not good and harm the driver and the front passenger
however nissan fixed most of the problem that occur during the first test before send it back for the second test
I remembered Navara from ayour old nissan ad in your blog, paul. The one which a nissan “transformed” to snakes, spider etc……….
I wonder whether this model which will be in Msia is the new 2008 or previous navara model (Navara model has been around quite some time since 2005 actually, and even before that)
Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Navara
There are 2 engines available, the popular common-rail 2.5liter Turbo-charged Diesel engine and the V-6 petrol. The TcD in 4WD models produces 128 kW (172 hp) at 4000 rpm and 403 N·m at 2000 rpm, with the 2WD models producing slightly less at 106 kW (142 hp) at 4000 rpm and 356 N·m (263 ft·lbf) at 2000 rpm. The high-powered V-6 a breath-taking 198 kW (266 hp) at 5600 rpm of power and 385 N·m (284 ft·lbf) at 4000 rpm of torque. Both engines come with a standard 5 speed Automatic, with a 6 speed manual available for the Diesel. (These are australian models)
Will we be getting the same model as these?
Just imagine, 4×2 is much MORE powerful than isuzu 2.5L 4×2 (79PS/58kW at 3900 rpm torque 176Nm at a low 1800 rpm) and triton 2.3L (Max. output (net) – 136PS(100kW/3,500) Max. torque (net) – 314Nm(32.0kgm)/2,000 rpm
Now………about the price here, anyone?
