Volkswagen Scirocco Study R

We’ve previously heard news of the 3.2 litre V6 engine making its way out of Volkswagen’s Golf and Scirocco and instead being replaced with a high-powered version of Volkswagen’s 2.0 TFSI engine.

In this design study that previews the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco R20T (rumoured naming conventional similiar to the existing R32 and R36), the 2.0 TFSI engine produces a good 270 horses, mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox.

Also featured in the design study is an adjustable coilover suspension, big brakes with 4-pot calipers and a performance exhaust system.

Look after the jump for more shots of the Scirocco Study R.

Two major ah beng elements, the hood and rear wing. Make the car less elegant than stock version.

But its interior is lil’ better than stock, love the bucket seats. Also notice, this version is clutch-less manual shift, gotta spend some time to suit oneself at the cornering.

3.6 liter V6 doesn’t sound impressive at all. Bigger cc engine only leads to 80′s.

If this car make it into production, it will be a genuine rival of the new Ford Focus RS, which has got quite similar engine spec – turbocharged 2.0L, 270hp running through the front wheels. A perfect recipe for torque steer :) , though Focus RS has a special front suspension called the RevoKnuckle.

But some sources say the engine might be detuned for production, maybe down to 240+hp…

yes Paul, u r right. VW presented this concept Scirocco Studie R at the bologna motor show. thanx for correcting my mistake.

btw, the upcoming VW Scirocco R20T might be competing against its sister co’s SEAT turbocharged 2.0-litre (240ps) Leon Cupra.

Dunno about the side mirror and I don’t think it’ll make to production if VW release it. Seriously, it’s gorgeous! Love the bucket seat and love to have it. Don’t worry Claxxion, VW will bring it to Malaysia by next year!! Hope to hear you have it one day dude…cheers!
