Initial production shots of Golf GTI Mk6 revealed

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Some official details of the production version of the Mk6 Golf GTI have been revealed, along with official production versions of the car’s 3-door body done up in a hot red paintjob. Under the hood will be a 2.0 liter TSI engine. No official details have been revealed as of now, but expect power output to be around 200 horses, perhaps the same 210 PS that the GTI Concept had, a mere 10 PS increase over the Mk5 GTI.

Other features that the Concept car had are an LSD called the XDS system, and Adaptive Chassis Control which is much like Audi Drive Select. It can vary steering assistance, throttle response and adjust pneumatic damper settings.

We’ll have to wait until the official press release is out to find out if these make their way into the production car. In the meanwhile, please enjoy the nice photos of the red Mk6 GTI after the jump.

somehow I still feel that the current Mk5 Golf looks more agressive on the front than this new one.

agree with you on that. The Mk5 was making VW losses per car sold. So VW got lazy and jus slapped the sirocco front and the toureg rear on to the Mk6.

The rims looks dated. Should have been updated along side with the new body…il go with the Mk5/Sirocco.

so the only difference between this and the scirocco is the body shape and the engine huh?

somehow i think the scirocco will cannibalise gti’s sale.
