Next generation Mercedes-Benz CLS – artist rendering

This artist’s impression of the next generation Mercedes-Benz CLS was whipped up by Theophilus Chin based on the Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept that was unveiled earlier this week along with the guidance of taped up spyshots of the CLS that have been snapped over the past few months. If you check the spyshot gallery, you can see that the shape of the disguised rear lamps are pretty much similiar to the shape of the lamps on the Shooting Break Concept, though of course because of the disguise we cannot see the lense design. What do you think? Do you think the rendering is accurate?

The rear looks abnormally raised. Wouldn’t do good with a car that takes pride on its aerodynamic performance.

    • I think it will still be ok. A bit higher than the porsche panamera but still ok.

The artist rendering takes design language cues from Merc’s concept cars that is shown in Geneva and New York of late. From the design you can’t say exactly how the car behaves aerodynamically, Calvin. I’m sure Merc doesn’t design a car for great looks only and forgot about drag and fuel consumption figures. Let’s see how accurate are these renderings when the actual car comes out

Well, this is just a rendering by Theophilus so I’m just stating that it’s not that accurate. In comparison to the Shooting Break concept, this render’s rear is noticeably higher.

I did not increase the height of the Shooting Break’s rear when rendered into the sedan.

Beautiful .. but it looks more like a next generation S-class. It has lost some of the coupe version like the current CLS

Criticise my design if you want, but don’t make funny comments of people’s name.

hmm…the front is not really nice.it’s like smiling but at the same time it’s not.it’s too C-Class.the CLS was famous due to it’s breakthrough design.this one is too dull.

The rendering’s tail lamps were based on the Shooting Break Concept’s tail lamps.

nice CLS! and nice work Theophilus!
the current CLS is so timeless…
it never fails to turn heads and the design still looks new…
if im gonna get a merc, it will be a CLS…

  • I’m guessing the new CLS will be a ‘shooting break’ (coz d european says its a coupe form) n very similiar 2 d previous concept. Who want 2 bet?

I think this somehow 90% accurate la.. but seriously the front design looks suck…

so CLS gonna have its estate/wagon sibling eh..

its nice looking design, doing away with the current trend of other Mercs except for W204 C class but with some touches to keep the theme going.

2 thumbs up!! very creative indeed…

Very nice looking especially the rear. The front reminds me of the new SLS!

Given that the usually benign E – Class has undergone a radical makeover, I think that the CLS is just what the doctor ordered. The toned down lines, a more conservative and gentlemanly front end, and a slightly raised back end might just make it more appealing to a greater demographic. Can’t say I’m crazy about the tail lights though. It sort of looks like it has eyes on its ass. LOL

I hope however that Benz doesn’t make the engine more conservative. :D

    Some suggestion TheophilusChin ,

    1. Try using 1 line across the radiator grill instead of double line. I think that was just to fool ppl when they see the spyshots.
    2. There might be some daytime led lights at the foglamp area.
    3. The rear lights might be extended back at goes right onto the rear compartment door. Check out the spyshots, looks light there might actually be reflectors on them.
    4. I think the ground clearance need to be just slightly lowered.
    5. Use the rims found on the new CLS. (just aesthetic reasons)

Can you try again based on these suggestions.?
