PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi have announced that the Mitsubishi ASX (called RVR in Japan) will be built for PSA Peugeot Citroen. This comes as no surprise considering how many other “rebadge” deals PSA and Mitsubishi have been having in the past – the Outlander rebadged as the 4007 and C-Crosser as well as the i-MiEV rebadged as the Peugeot iOn and the Citroen C-zero.
The Peugeot and Citroen versions of the Mitsubishi ASX will have their own styling, much like what they did for the Outlander project. PSA Peugeot Citroen will be using its own 1.6 litre HDi turbodiesel for its versions of the ASX. They are targetting a fuel consumption of 4.7 litres per 100km for the two wheel drive version. An all-wheel drive version will also be available.
Look after the jump for pictures of the original RVR. The two photos you see above are Theophilus Chin‘s impressions of what Peugeot and Citroen versions of the RVR/ASX might look like.

french’ed styling of a japanese katana, that should be nice to drive
ugly design….
rebadge…!!! aerrghhh… is a plague…its pandemic…
why still looks like evo x
so it would not be a problem if p1 rebadge a mitsu then, orang lain pon buat jgk.
wiil it be coming to malaysia in any of the brands…usually,,malaysia will be the least as the manufactures need almost 1 year to set the prices…
pemalas punya peugeot..
ok la tu.. zaman sekarang ni ramai yg main rebadge ja.. sebab kegawatan ekonomi.. semua nak jimat kos rnd…
Looks great. It will be even better if the color is black. More class…
Wondering Mit RVR available in Bolehland..Um….
Should be ok if restyled into a Frenchie. Nice fuel consumption figure.
Maybe proton will follow suit. the 1.8l engine mated with this SUV is likely a hit in malaysia if it has proton badge + proton price.
They learned from P2 to do rebatch!! haha, and then proton will rebatch Mitsu lancer too. !! haha,
rebatch is the new direction now!!
rebadging has been going on for a long long time.. even way back in the 70’s. just because we don’t know about it, doesn’t mean it don’t happen.
just because p2 is all-time rebadger, does you mean all are following you? haha
other makes rebadge to vary their product… not make it as their sole product…
like Citroen, they have their own design vehicle, and adding mitsubishi model to vary their line-up…
p2… does not have their own product, and rebadge to make their line up…
thats the different..
PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi could no longer live on their own. That’s why they merge to save cost (investment and operational). And in order to save cost even further, might as well do some re-badge as it adds variety to the line-up. Even if they intend to produce more new development, I am sure they will use any current platform from both PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi to save cost and even sharing current engine. See, how these companies do re-badge to save their asses. P1 & P2 had done it earlier as they already forecasted ahead on what will happen in the automotive industry globally. So what’s wrong with re-badge? If they don’t do re-badge, both PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi will die sooner than our local manufacturer.
The old Ford Laser was also a rebadged Mazda lah….
Even some USDMs were Japs underneath.
There is no shame in re-badging. It builds upon your product portfolio without additional huge cost of R&D. You only pay royalty.
Some say paying royalty will reduce profit but what about the huge investment on R&D. Ultimately, the final product’s profit will still have to offset the R&D cost (ie. X number of units to pay off R&D).
PSA Peugeot Citroen is a much larger car company than P1 & P2 combined. Yet they are not ashamed to re-badge.
evo x,pajero sport=rvr
Re-badging works well for both the originator and the adopter. The former will get the royalties, the latter will get to introduce a temporary product to complete its portfolio without incuring any R&D cost. On top of that, the respective vendor universe will have jobs…people remain employed…and money gets spent. Yes originality is lacking, but it creates opportunities for ppl and provide a welcome break for OEMS to build up again their cashpile before they embark on a new product. I hear that on average, a new product will set u back US$150-200 million per product till mass production
yeah…that’s the spirit PSA!!!!
I cant imagine another car than is more ugly that this rojak car…
PSA = Proton Shah Alam?
hahaha.. joke only..
is it just me, or the shark nose really only looks nice on Lancer / Evo X?
the red rendering looks not too bad…kinda nice but the soft looks doesnt really match the sporty nature of this class of vehicle…
maybe pug/citroen will come out with a sportier design?
the blue one looks like it’s meant for south american market…
hehehe…
3 World quality standard lagging car companies together. Mitsu=Bottom of the Barrel cars in America. PSA=bad cars in Australia and Europe.
oh gawd no!!! that’s such an unholy thing for psa to do! shame on you guys!! you can put a french badge on it but the body spells japanese all over.
if you guys actually provided better aftersales you might actually make enough profit to design your own products which always look so quirky and amazing. if badging is one thing bmw probably never had to do, there’s a lesson to learn.
Potong sure eyeing on this car wan..it make sense wat!! they currently dont have a SUV line up rite??
I think i will wait laa…WAHhhahahaha
mitsubishi asx actually new generation we says this car made point for befor and it will start alone as leader of this imagenation
hopefully the end result is good.
