Li Nian S1 is a rehashed last generation Honda City

Honda’s Chinese domestic market sub-brand Li Nian has just launched its first car – the Li Nian S1, a production version of the Li Nian Everus Concept car shown earlier this year at the Beijing auto show. As expected, the S1 ended up being a rehash of the previous generation Honda City, as we could already see the old City’s design cues on the Everus Concept.

Li Nian is a JV between Honda and their Chinese partner Guangqi Honda Automobile. The Li Nian brand was first announced in 2008, and there has been some very interesting concept cars shown at motorshows under the Li Nian name such as the Li Nian Concept and the Li Nian Roadster concept. It’s just too bad that the first production Li Nian ended up being a recycled last generation Honda.

Kalau Proton joint venture dengan Mitsubishi pastu rebadge Lancer jadi Inspira, bukan main menyalak orang Malaysia kutuk-mengutuk Proton. Bila Li Nian joint venture dgn Honda rebadge City, takde pulak orang Malaysia yang menyalak kutuk-mengutuk keta China. Lagi puji syarikat automotif China pulak.

The previous generation City was a lousy car to start of with anyway. When it’s resurrected by a Chinese brand, all I can say is caveat emptor.

Actually the prev gen city is a very good car for “city” use. it was innovative and the only problem was the exterior look which some find ugly. the interior is spacious for the class and the rear magic seats was ingenious.

        you got that right.
it spacious, high quality material and the most important it is reliable.
yes! its reliable. some so called ‘motor-expert’ keep arguing the problematic CVT transmission. guess what?. my ’08 city, always do good to me. this probably due to proper schedule maintenance.
A Chinese re-badge of Honda city? u got be kidding..
maybe share a same design language. but,
the quality if far from adequate.
it maybe take decades for china car-maker to improve their design and quality.
but from now, stay clear from those models.

Let’s be Fair, the previous gen city was NOT a lousy car, it’s designed to be a comfortable city car with excellent fuel efficiency, and yet capable of sub-9 seconds in century sprint!

  • The 2nd Generation CIty was a clever commute, it does not look the best, it work best for the pocket. it is sad that Honda unable to give a better successor to that.

Honda own Li Nian, Mitsubishi does not own Proton. knock your coconut head again. =D

all i can say the revamp design is mild facelift but nicer to see than the prev honda. wonders whether they will use the 7s cvt, fuel efficient idsi and lack feedback eps steering for this substandard honda.
