BMW Group Malaysia has introduced its latest model, the BMW 528i M Sport. This new variant features more aggressive M Sport styling on the outside and comes with BMW ConnectedDrive, which includes on-board internet access, Bluetooth audio streaming and Office functions, among other uses.

Breaking down the changed bits, the 528i M Sport features the M Sports package with M Aerodynamic trimmings consisting of the M front bumper with large air intakes, M rear bumper with anthracite insert and side sills. The window frames are no longer in chrome, but in BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line trim. There are also exhaust tailpipe embellishers in Dark Chrome. And of course, the 18-inch double-spoke M light alloy wheels (style 350M).

Inside, this sports sedan offers sports front seats, BMW Individual headliner anthracite, interior trim finishers in Aluminium Hexagon, M leather steering wheel and M door sill finishers. It is powered by the N52B30 3.0 litre NA inline six with 258 hp and 310 Nm. 0-100 km/h is done in 6.7 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h.

The instrumentation panel has also been updated to a full black panel display that has a multi-info display covering the entire width of the instrumentation panel, instead of the current batches of F10 which only has a smaller panel in the bottom right. Future batches of the 535i has been updated to have this extended black panel as well.

The retail price for the locally assembled 528i M Sport (on the road, without insurance, with BMW Service Inclusive + Repair) is RM 449,800. This is the same price as the standard CKD 528i when it was introduced in October 2010. But in return for the M-Sport bodykit and trim, you’ll lose the non-M Sport 528i’s sunroof and reverse camera.

This car receives the baton from the highly popular E60 525i M Sport; like the previous gen car, it’s the flashy member of the family alongside more sober siblings. But for the style, one will have to pay a huge premium over the most affordable F10, the RM333,800 520d.

Are we going to hear another person rambling about economy is bad, prices are going up, greedy corporate releasing cars that are only meant for the rich and famous? Followed by it is BeeN’s fault for not abolishing the AP policy and urge everyone to vote them out?

The 350M wheels look off… For M Sport the only wheels that look at home in those wheel arches are the 351M 19″ ones. But they cost nearly 4k a piece from AB. Hope BMW does an upgrade package price for 4x351M and runflats.

  • yeah! I think that the sport rims somehow doesn’t suit the M-Sport bodykit… interior-wise it is GREAT!!! The leather colour definitely caught my eyes…
And NO… M-Sport bodykit doesn’t look the same as M5…
Damn! It makes me wanna sell my E60 and upgrade to this beast :(

  • interior quality is much better than the e60 but the exterior doesn’t look as smooth as e60 m sport.

Same price more goodies = worth it for those who can afford. But I was wondering since the F60 M5 haven’t officially launch yet, meaning is this bodykit design the previous design? coz somehow it look identical!!!

bumper design is actually very different.

the shape of the bumper air intake on the m sport is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom.

its the opposite for the m5:

Black panel retains the chrome rings, but the rings are horse shoe shaped instead of a full circle.

  • Hey ppl, I’d like to hear from you guys…
This or E-Class? In terms of giving less problems like breaking down & etc?

All down to personal taste. I personally am not into the Merc’s looks. Doesn’t suit my style. Both are great cars. E Class has loads of space, more than than 5.

In terms of problems and maintenance.. all more or less the same these days. The 5 will ‘breakdown’ as often as the E Class. However the 5 will save you some money because of the 3-year service inclusive package. You don’t pay a single sen on maintenance in that period except for things like tyres.. Good offering from BMW.

      To Zoe,

If you are a performance orientated driver and or drive aggresively, then the Beemer will suit you just fine.If you want more a classy and understated purchase, the Merc is the way to go.Though i have to admit that the current E class is certainly more sporty looking than it’s predecessor.

Then again,it depends of what will suit driving needs or requirements the best.Test drive both marques then make your decision.

If you are buying a brand new car, then you would not have to worry about it braking down or what not.

If you are buying a used unit of either make, make sure it’s from their own quality used car selection with warranty and full service history.Otherwise don’t bother.Or else units like these bought from large secondhand car dealers will be most prone to giving you issues down the road.

Weigh all options wisely before you cough up the cash to buy the ride.

      Cheers mate.

E-Class hands down. Personal taste of ergonomic design and functionality for the interior and comfort.

In terms of problems, it’s quite fair across the board and really depends on your luck.
