At last night’s official launch event of the new Ranger, Ford also announced the winners of the Malaysian edition of the Global Ford Ranger Challenge. Of the five finalists, Wong Kok Wei, the IT executive from Penang, was announced as the grand prize winner, which meant he drove home in a Ford Ranger XLT 2.2 Manual worth RM90k.
Wong’s “Urban Jungle of the Orient” challenge video was the most popular, as voted by visitors to the Ford Ranger Challenge official website. His tree ferrying mission beat Denny Lim’s “Borneo’s Less Travelled Path” video. As first runner-up, Lim took back to Sarawak RM9,888 in cash, Global Ranger Challenge merchandise and a RM10k voucher to purchase the new Ranger.
Sabah’s Peter Charles was the second runner-up with his “One Tonne Monster Load” challenge, where he drove the Ranger through a 30 km off-road course with a 700 kg load of palm oil. He received RM3,888 cash, merchandise and a RM5,000 voucher to buy the T6.
View Wong’s winning video, and those of the other four finalists, here. The five were chosen from some 300 entries in the unique, worldwide experiential marketing campaign for the new Ranger, which started here in February.

Congrats to Wong. I am certain he is a happy man with a brand new Ranger.
The Ranger has certainly garnered much attention and it will be a hard truck to beat. Let’s see what Toyota has up its sleeve.
sad the most boring video had won, cant understand why people vote that video, or maybe he had a lot of family and friends voting? hmm..
