If you book a taxi cab on Earth Day via the MyTeksi mobile app, you might just be surprised to see an electric Nissan Leaf pick you up instead of the usual red and white car. And best of all, not only will your trip be emissions-free, it will literally be FOC!
This is thanks to MyTeksi and Edaran Tan Chong Motor teaming up for this Earth Day promo. Just in case you’re unaware, Earth Day is on 22nd April 2013. You can download the MyTeksi app from the iTunes App Store for iOS devices or Google Play Store for Android devices.
The Nissan Leaf taxis for bookings via the MyTeksi app will be deployed around the KL area such as Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Bukit Bintang, KLCC, etc.
In addition to this, a Nissan Leaf shuttle service will be deployed in the Subang Jaya and Sunway area. Passengers looking for a free ride will need to spot the Nissan Leaf at these locations for a free ride to their desired destination within the shuttle service zone. There will be specific shuttle stop areas where if you see a Nissan Leaf parked, you can request to get in. Think of it as somewhat like a feeder bus service.
While these promotions are nice and allows more people to experience the Nissan Leaf, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is an electric car that the public can actually buy right now.
