We’re taking special interest in the cars that MG are exhibiting at Auto Shanghai 2013, because it was announced earlier this month that Malaysian car distributor Federal Auto signed an MoU with MG’s owner SAIC to revive the MG brand in Malaysia. Who knows, if things go well this MG CS Concept which made it’s debut at Auto Shanghai 2013 could be one of the cars to eventually find it’s way onto Malaysian shores in production form.
The MG CS Concept has a sharp and sporty look which shows off one of the most prominent daytime running light designs we’ve seen on a car. At the same time, save for the huge concept car wheels, we could definitely see such a design put into production, with some of the design cues toned down of course such as a tamer bumper and more conventional-looking door grab handles.
The team behind the concept car was led by MG’s Global Design Director, Anthony Williams-Kenny. The preview press release that MG issued doesn’t really say what segment the SUV is in, instead just calling it an urban SUV.
The over the top daytime running lights on the front give the car a stout look which at first glance gives me the impression it might be Ford EcoSport-sized, but then again it might also be Ford Kuga-sized.
