Ford may be stopping Australian production of the Falcon and Territory SUV by 2016, but the Blue Oval has signaled that things aren’t quite grinding to a halt Down Under – there’s lots being planned for the market, albeit in a different tack.
The brand highlighted this with a reveal of its transformation plan for the market between now and 2017, with a family of 11 models set to provide a full lineup by then – the EcoSport SUV is set to arrive in December in both 1.0 litre EcoBoost and 1.5 litre Ti-VCT forms, and models like the new Mondeo and right-hand drive Mustang are inbound.
The facelifted Fiesta is also debuting soon, with the 1.5 litre normally-aspirated version arriving in September, ahead of the 1.0 litre EcoBoost variant that’s due at the end of the year.
A new third-gen Everest is also on the list, previewed by the global unveiling of the Everest Concept. The new Oz-penned seven-seater finally moves away from looking like the Ranger with a tail slapped on – there’s common parts sharing, but at least the sculptured profile has its own distinct look. The SUV isn’t meant as a Territory replacement, but word is that it’ll arrive sometime in 2015 to fill a slot ahead of the former’s departure the following year.
The brand also teased the 2014 Ford Falcon, which will feature enhanced aerodynamics as a result of extensive engineering and design work on the car, and benefit from a range of tweaks designed to reduce its CO2 footprint and improve fuel efficiency.
The Falcon will also be available with advance low-resistance tyres and a new high-tech six-speed automatic transmission, which will provide better acceleration and feature adaptive shifting.

Properly designed and built, with safety in mind. Good to Ford. This should be the way human build vehicles.
