SPYSHOTS: Audi Q7 prototype sheds some disguise

Audi-Q7-001

It’s not much, but a small bit of disguise has come off the next-generation Audi Q7 prototype, allowing us a glimpse of how the front bumper will look like.

This could be a more powerful variant since Audi has had to take the disguise off the bumper intakes, probably to ensure there’s sufficient airflow for the engine. This prototype also features nicer looking larger alloy wheels compared to the ones on the prototype we last sighted in November.

We expect the next-generation Q7 to mirror the petrol engine options available on the Audi A8, which means a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine as a baseline for the petrol, with a 4.0 TFSI V8 next up the rung, replacing the 4.2 FSI engine in the current Q7. Oil burner options will start with a 3.0 TDI.

Rumour is that the next-gen Q7 is experiencing some delays thanks to last minute redesigns, as the original concept for the Q7 received feedback that it looked too aggressive for its target buyers’ tastes.
