2014 Porsche Boxster GTS, Cayman GTS revealed

Boxster GTS

High-performance GTS versions of Porsche’s current Boxster and Cayman models are out in the open – the new range-toppers are powered by a 3.4 litre flat-six that now delivers 330 hp/370 Nm in the Boxster GTS and 340 hp/380 Nm in the Cayman GTS.

With the optional seven-speed PDK and Launch Control, this 15 hp/10 Nm boost results in 0-100 km/h times of 4.7 seconds for the Boxster GTS and 4.6 for the Cayman GTS – both a third of a second down on the S models.

The standard six-speed manual allows the Boxster GTS to top 280 km/h and the Cayman GTS to achieve 285 km/h. Overall fuel consumption is a claimed 9.0 litres per 100 km for the manual and 8.2 for the PDK.

Standard on both are the Sport Chrono package (dynamic engine mounts included), PASM active suspension and black-finished 20-inch Carrera S alloys (235/35 front, 265/35 back). Optional is a sports chassis with a 20 mm lower ride height.

Both sport a distinctive front spoiler, a redesigned rear apron and smoked bi-xenon headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System as standard, while their cabins feature sports seats, leather trim and Alcantara elements.

While most dream of the future, Jonathan Tan dreams of the past, although he's never been there. Fantasises much too often about cruising down Treacher Road (Jalan Sultan Ismail) in a Triumph Stag that actually works, and hopes this stint here will snap him back to present reality.
