Euro 5 diesel to begin selling in Klang Valley this year

Euro 4 and 5

Today’s National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2014 status update also briefly touched on the subject of Euro 4 and Euro 5 fuels, with Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed reiterating the introduction timelines that were first announced in November last year.

As mentioned, Euro 4 RON 97 petrol will arrive first in September 2015, followed by Euro 4 RON 95 petrol in October 2018. Diesel will get to Euro 5 standard in September 2020, and Euro 5 grade RON 95 and RON 97 petrol is scheduled to be introduced in September 2025.

It was also announced that this year will see the rollout of fully-imported Euro 5 diesel to other states, especially in the Klang Valley, following the fuel’s introduction in Johor last year, though no specific timeframe was given for deployment.

bmw-320d-infiniti-euro-5

It’s likely the fuel will be made available via BHPetrol, which introduced its Infiniti Euro 5 Diesel last November – the fuel is currently available at 12 of its stations in Johor. Euro 5 diesel has a sulphur content of just 10 parts per million (ppm), compared to 500 ppm for current Euro 2M diesel.

Following the introduction of Euro 5 in Johor, MITI said that oil companies were more than welcome to begin selling such fuels earlier than the gazetted dates.

What happened to MAI and their promise to push EEV?

Madani Sahari is used by the government to confuse the people with heavy duty analysis and charts. Where is MAI now?

Madani and MAI have been promoting EEV and cleaner environment for years now. MAI said Government strongly encourages EEV vehicles and we should all buy EEV vehicles.

      Now apa jadi?

Si Madani, dirty diesel is causing a lot of health problems for every Malaysian. The fumes are choking us and actually killing the elderly people. Clean Euro 5 diesel should be given immediately and on the spot. All our Asian neighbours have clean diesel except us.

All because Government owns the National Oil company and Government don’t want their Petronas to invest in cleaner diesel but rather see Malaysians die of lung cancer and throat cancer.

All the bus companies and lorry companies that smoke us with thick black smoke also are owned by the BN Ministers through various proxies.

In Malaysia now, respitory illness is the No 2 killer. But Government don’t care. Let the 30 million people die, so long as we BN guys can enrich ourselves with Petronas money.

But the Government people are so stupid. The Government hospitals will bear the burden and cost of the many people with respitory illnesses and asthma, lung infection, cancer of lungs and so on.

Ask the European Union, sulphur and other hazardous materials in Euro 2 filthy diesel is so toxic and cancerous to society, it is the biggest ever crime that can be committed to society by a Government.
The microscopic hazard that enter your lungs and eventually your bloodstream is so poisonous, it is as good as you drinking some Roundup everyday.

Madani Sahari, where is the clean diesel for the whole nation immediately? Important things like this you don’t address.

There above issues including clean diesel, Madani got no telur to tackle. The MAI guys are paid very high pay to confuse the rakyat with all sorts of analysis and charts but these issues, they don’t bother.

Our hard earned money is spent to support the fools at MAI. But no result. The last big paper so much was said about EEV.
Please Madanai and MAI, have some guts to serve the people of Malaysia and not just your own pockets.

Its not the diesel, its the vehicle. We have porsches, BMW’s & Audi’s running on diesels with clean emissions . Go stand behind one while its Diesel engine running. And smell.

or follow behind one of these diesel and watch them accelerate. See any smoke?

Yes, I’m driving one of those German diesel. They’re great, even at Euro2.

It’s really up to the oil companies to invest in refinery.
Why should anyone stop them? It’s their money. Their investment. Shell, BHP, Petronas, Caltex etc. it’s their call. If Government imposed , but the company can’t deliver… Would government hand out money to them for their privy investment?

  • Why must we BEG? on Jan 30, 2015 at 3:56 pm

The people of Malaysia should not beg for clean air. To breathe clean air, it is our right. All over the world, governments are moving to hybrid to give their people cleaner air.

In Malaysia, government blackmails us to get clean air. One day tax incentive is on for hybrid, then another day, tax incentive is off for hybrid. 10 years ago, told us clean diesel is on its way. Now 2020 comes, they will say 2025 or 2030.

The Government of Malaysia blackmails its people for the right to breathe clean air.

The whole purpose of a government is to look after the well being of its rakyat and provide the rakyat security. That is the definition of a government. A government collects taxes from the rakyat, in return, they provide a safe, secure country for its tax paying rakyat.

In this case in Malaysia, Malaysians have been suffering with dirty fuel and higher emissions for over 15 years when all over the world they have upgraded their fuels to give their people cleaner air. They also promote cleaner hybrid engines to provide cleaner air and they give their rakyat cleaner petrol and diesels that emits very low Co2.

Don’t talk about cars now. Lets talk about the health of a nation. Because of the dirty petrol and diesel and not promoting hybrid cars, the air pollution is so hazardous to the rakyat, it is the result of countless of cases of lung infection, cancer and respitory illnesses. All our hospitals are full daily mainly because of respitory illnesses. Older people suffer most because of polution by the low grade fuel given by our government.

Have you seen your old mother and father pant and gasp for air?

That is because the government of Malaysia has failed its rakyat giving them cleaner air to breathe. They don’t care for the 30 million people suffer and the environment. They want you to use more dirty petrol and fuel and pollute the environment.

The Environment Ministry and the Minister has no balls. His job is to ensure a cleaner environment.
All over the world, the oil companies are so scared of the governments and they comply with all the Euro5 regulations imposed by their caring governments. But not in Malaysia.

Government does not care at all about the Environment at all. Besides Hybrids, government must ensure all companies come out with Hybrids to promote lesser emissions into the environment.

The Government of Malaysia has failed its rakyat in giving a clean environment, safe and secure country for the rakyat to live in. The government takes the tax payers money in vain here. It is not doing it job. It is as bad as some African war torn country. Don’t be fooled just because Malaysia has no war and is supposedly peaceful. The dirty air and environment itself is war on your lungs and respitory system and this war is far worse than your physical war of guns, mortars and tanks. It is a silent killer. The dirty fumes emitted from vehicles because of the dirty fuel and non hybrid promotion kills more people per annum than any war will.

Our government has time to play a chess game with people’s lives and health in Malaysia, gambling their lives away with their lalang attitude towards hybrid tax incentives.

Seriously, this government could do better being in the Royal Malaysian Circus. At least the Rakyat gets entertained by all these clowns. They just don’t seem to be able to goven at all. For foreign maids, the Rakyat have to pay double or three times the fees as compared to our super efficient neighbour; for foreign workers permits; the Rakyat has to queue more that 24 hours just to submit the documentations. By year 2025; cars would be running on fuel cells and other advance technologies.

When there is open competition in the fuel market,
the rakyat benefits. The best products at the lowest possible price. Our car market should also be
    like this.
The government should not set prices for cars!

This is a very good item for our country. It shall be made available in all the petrol station in the nation, not only BHP, but make it compulsory for all petrol station to carry it.

With this, we can start run very economical modern diesel car, as what happened in advanced country today.

I believe our retail business is already being open and competitive. There few things left will be the pricing of petrol/ diesel as well as the grades of fuel Euro 2M, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. Therefore, I believed the best way forward is to further liberalised the market by allowing the players and users to have access to the latest and cleanest petrol/ diesel at market price. Whether the oil companies are going to invest in new technology? This should be driven by market demand. If volume is small, then they can source the fuel from other places and being sold at market price to ensure its cost competitiveness. With this hopefully the market will no longer be skewed and values can be delivered to users and consumers.

well, lets see how the older commercial vehicles responded to ultra low sulphur aka euro 5 diesel.
personally, i still prefer euro 2 in my aged ford ranger since i dont want any lubrication problems ato occur from using such fuel.

    • It’s the other way arround, old diesels can be run with all kinds of diesel fuel. Sulphur is not a component used for lubrication.

The old retired Mercedes 911 lorries from the army could even be run with pure cooking oil. Modern diesels will die immediately when run with pure palm oil because of lack of lubrication.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
    • Cetane on Jan 31, 2015 at 8:47 pm

RON grade has nothing to do with diesel fuel.

Diesel fuel: The higher the cetane number, the more volatile the fuel.

Petrol: The higher the octane number, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating (igniting).

In an diesel engine the fuel *must* ignite itself (no spark plugs), while in a petrol engine it *must not* ignite itself.

Why don’t the govt mandate petrol stations to advertise their fuel as Euro 2M or Euro 3/4, for example, BHP claimed that their diesel is Euro 4 equivalent grade for their normal diesel. This will increase competition and push refineries to upgrade their fuel sooner. If they tipu their grade, govt and rakyat can take action against them for fraudulent claims. Win for rakyat and govt! If the petroleum company don’t like it, there is always a famous saying: “You tak suka, you keluar!”

  • sometimes last year, gov said petrol companies not ready to commmercialise Euro5 diesel in Malaysia. BHP then start it at JB due to regulations for trucks to enter Spore….would it be our very own petrol company not really ? Our gov need to built a shield..
