VIDEO: Jaguar F-Pace teased ahead of Frankfurt debut

Jaguar has released a video teasing its upcoming crossover – confirmed to be called the Jaguar F-Pace – ahead of the car’s slated Frankfurt Motor Show debut in September.

Not a single thing can be garnered from watching the film – it starts off with chief designer Ian Callum sketching out the side profile of the car, then progresses to some detail shots of the C-X17 concept before finishing up with “F-Pace” scrawled across the cityscape. It does, however, point to an impending unveiling for Jaguar’s first SUV.

The F-Pace will be the third vehicle built off Jaguar’s lightweight aluminium-intensive iQ[Al] architecture, and is expected to utilise engines from the new XF range – 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol and diesel mills from the Ingenium family, a 3.0 litre biturbo V6 diesel and the F-Type’s 3.0 supercharged petrol V6. There will also be a fire-breathing 5.0 litre supercharged V8-powered F-Pace R later on.

Power should be send via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission to all four wheels as standard on all but the entry-level models (on those, all-wheel drive will be offered as an option, along with a six-speed manual).
