Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R launched in Malaysia – only 10 units, priced at RM300,000 each

The limited edition Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R has been launched in Malaysia. This one is made for true Renault Sport enthusiasts, as it’s as hardcore as it gets. It’s almost 100 kg lighter than the standard Megane RS, and it’s now a strict two-seater, without rear seats!

Its 2.0 litre turbocharged engine makes 10 hp more than the RS 265, hence the RS 275 Trophy-R name. Torque stays the same, though, at 360 Nm. It does the century sprint in just 5.8 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker than the RS 265), through a six-speed manual transmission and a special titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.

Exterior-wise, the Trophy-R comes in two-toned Pearlescent White paint with an Etoile black roof, a red “F1-style splitter,” along with red stripes on the sides. There are Trophy-R plates on the door sills too, along with single-piece Recaro Pole Position leather/Alcantara bucket seats. There are no rear seats, replaced by a red cross strut bar and cargo netting.

It’s also more agile thanks to Öhlins Road & Track one-way adjustable dampers with Allevard composite springs. The wheels are 19-inch Speedline Turini alloys, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres – fitted on a front-wheel drive car for the first time.

Also fitted as standard in Malaysia is the Nurburgring Pack, which includes a Performance braking kit. The discs are 10 mm larger, measuring at 350 mm. The set is 3 kg lighter, and the use of aluminium bowls also leads to a reduction in the operating temperature. A lithium-ion battery, 16 kg lighter than the standard item, is also included.

Only 10 units of the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R has been brought into Malaysia, each priced at RM300,000. You can’t buy one, though, as it’s completely sold out. Oh bummer.

That’s because the Mazda Miata is not a sports car. If you think the Mazda can be a sports car with that tiny little engine then you are the puss.
