Toll rates for the Maju Expressway (MEX) are set to be increased beginning October 15. Highway concessionaire Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd issued an announcement stating the hike by listing the new rates that will apply for the 26 km-long route, which links the KL city centre to Cyberjaya – and Putrajaya – as well as indirectly to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Currently, the tariff for travel on the expressway – which began operations in 2007 – at point of entry and exit at the Putrajaya toll plaza is RM2.50 for Class 1 vehicles (those with two axles and three/four wheels, excluding taxis), RM5 for Class 2 (five or six-wheeled vehicles with two axles), RM7.50 for Class 3 (vehicles with three or more axles), RM1.30 for Class 4 (taxis) and RM1.30 for Class 5 (buses).
Effective Oct 15, the rates will be revised to RM3.50 for Class 1 (an increase of RM1), RM7 for Class 2 (up by RM2), RM10.50 for Class 3 (an increase of RM3), RM1.80 for Class 4 (up by 50 sen) and RM2.50 for Class 5 (a hike of RM1.20) for travel on the expressway.
No accompanying statement was made by Maju Expressway regarding the increase in toll rates. The E20, formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (KLPE), begins from the Kampung Pandan interchange and terminates at the Putrajaya Link Interchange.
