After teasers by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) and the revelation of initial details, you know that the new Mitsubishi Outlander’s Malaysian launch will happen soon. Well, we’re one step closer now – order books for the SUV will open this Friday (Feb 26).
The Outlander is physically present at Bangsar Shopping Centre, where the pics below were taken this afternoon, but the white cloth over it will not be removed until the weekend, we were told. The sales advisor also revealed that the Outlander, which is a CBU import from Japan, will be priced at RM166k on-the-road without insurance (RM172k with insurance).
That’s very competitive next to the Honda CR-V 2.4 (RM172,600 OTR with insurance) and Nissan X-Trail 2.5 (RM159,164 OTR without insurance), both of which are locally assembled in Malaysia. Like the X-Trail, the Mitsubishi has seven seats in three rows.
The Outlander, which arrives in latest third-gen facelifted form with MMC’s Dynamic Shield mask, is powered by a 2.4 litre MIVEC four-cylinder petrol engine with 169 hp and 220 Nm, paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. The SUV comes with Mitsubishi’s Multi-Select 4WD system. A PHEV plug-in hybrid variant is available elsewhere but not here.
We don’t have the full spec sheet yet, but from the highlights, it’s clear that the Outlander is coming in as a relatively high-spec machine. LED headlamps and DRLs are standard, along with a sunroof, electric tailgate, keyless entry with push start, leather seats and 18-inch dual-tone alloys. Mitsubishi claims best in class cargo space, too.
On the safety front, the Mitsu comes with seven airbags (front, side, curtain, driver’s knee), Active Stability Control (ASC) and Hill Start Assist to go with the expected ABS with EBD and Brake Assist. Three colours are available – the hero red metallic, white pearl and grey metallic. Like what you see?

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Rear aircond vents? it is a 7 seater ya know…
Let’s do wait for Proton Outlander
wow, nice, Mitusibishi is really nice car, but their after sales service just like proton,
– seriously, from lancer sportback owner –
Every car service centre is just as “bad”. See Mitsu brand, there are complains, see a Kia brand, complains too and so on.
Every basket of apples do have a few bad ones in it doesn’t mean the whole basket turned bad.
Just my 2 cents on seeing such comments in nearly every of the car brand
bro, example like citroen and peugeot, their after sales was quite ok
who wants to buy a Mitsu (might soon go bankrupt) when u can get an X-trail or wait for the much better Fortuner!
But X-trail comes with only 2 airbags, even for the highest specs 4WD…stingy Nissan/ Tan Chong
X-trail is okay. Fortuner will onli bring u misfortune
Agreed mr john…x trail is way better vs misfortune toyota
Toyota salesman dog…go sell your rubbish toyota elsewhere
Xtrail is a good choice. Muscular looking. I like. The new fortune I like better.
For some reason, the cockpit feels dated
Hmmm. Outlander, X-Trail 2.5, Santa Fe / Forester
Too underpowered…
It’s kinda obvious from their product lineup and plans that they are just taking random shots in the dark to see what sticks..no direction in design..no direction in tech and their cars feel a generation behind..
it’s sad to see Mitsu in such a state considering the fact they had a huge influence in most Malaysians motoring experiences (for obvious reasons) and those pof a certain age have a soft spot for them whether we like them or not……….while Subaru is growing year on year all over the world…… a host of wrong decisions I presume…
Haiya besides mazda, japanese (and korean) cars have no strong design principles. They just follow trends.
I wonder will that meter console fit in my Inspira. This seems to have a bigger LCD.
At least it have more than 2 airbags compare to the other makes.
The 2.4 Engine is one of the least powerful egine nowadays with only 169hp and 220Nm
*Engine
From the side it looks like an X1. A poor man’s X1. Not bad, not bad at all. Looks great compared to the XV. Will buy one for sure, in white. I don’t know about Peninsula, but the service centre here is like family. Jimisar is doing a great job although you have to book a week in advance for service. Eon is also keeping up well, well stocked and the service manager, Sidek is very attentive and helpful.
You r not a mitsubishi customer but mitsu salesman.
that pathetic interior looks like inspira.
that 3rd row good for my chihuahua dog size.
woww .. its CBU from japan but the price almost the same with CKD for H & N. … So, higher price here not bcoz of govt tax BUT bcoz of greedy distributor.
Thai mari, 166k???
should bring in the hybrid model instead..
Wa worth buying
Alas, the diesel didn’t make it here. 2.4 NA with this size and weight is ok, but not great. I’ve driven the 2.0 and it was dreadful.
7 seater with 7 airbags? Worth consideration.
