2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport gets added tech

2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport-1

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport has been updated with more tech for its interior and on the safety-front. The updated SUV is now available in the UK, starting from £31,095 (RM178,080).

There’s a new Graphite Pack available for the SE and SE Tech trims. It comprises a Dark Atlas colour finish for the grille, bonnet strip and side vents. Apart from that it comes with a Corris Grey contrast roof and Narvik Black mirror caps. Meanwhile, a 19-inch wheel option can also be had. New colours available include silicon silver, farallon black, carpathian grey and aruba metallic.

Inside, it now features an updated InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, which utilises Intel’s Quad-Core processor. The 10.2-inch touchscreen has a wide 21:9 format and a higher-resolution than the previous eight-inch unit. It has a dual-screen option, a 60 GB solid state drive (SSD) and swipe and pinch capabilities.

Also available in the SUV is the integration of Tile’s advanced tracking app. In partnership with Tile, the Discovery Sport can track specially-developed Tile Bluetooth tags that are attached to items such as wallets or bags, to detect their whereabouts.

Upon initiating the in-vehicle app via the touchscreen, drivers or passengers are alerted as to whether the tagged items – called ‘Essentials’ – are inside the vehicle thanks to a 90-decibel alarm on the Tile tag. If it isn’t, then one can locate the item using on-screen directions.

Added safety technologies for the Discovery Sport include driver condition monitor that can detect drowsiness, along with intelligent speed limiter, which works with the traffic sign recognition feature to help drivers keep to the speed limit and lastly, lane keep assist.

RM178k is including manufacturer profit, dealership margin, government tax. Makes me wonder if it’s selling at RM390k here in Malaysia, where do all the rest of the money goes.
