The 2016 Mazda 3 facelift has been spotted in Japan, ahead of its local launch debut thanks to Minkara and CarDrive. Known as the Axela there, the visual updates seen on these 3s (all in hatchback form) appear to match up to those seen in an earlier leaked brochure.
As you can see, the updates are more prominent at the front, where a reshaped grille with a repositioned Mazda logo can be found. The grille’s chrome surrounds also appear to be thicker and extend less into the redesigned, CX-9-like headlamps.
Moving downwards, there is a larger intake along with a new pair of front fog lamps, which are not only slimmer than before, but also feature a chrome strip. Along the sides, the door mirrors now incorporate new LED turn indicator strips, replacing the previous lighting units located at the corner of the mirrors.
Meanwhile at the rear, the changes on the 3 hatchback are subtle, with reshaped rear fog lamp and reflector elements. We’ll have to wait and see what has been done to the sedan’s rear when the car is launched.
Earlier spyshots of the 3 facelift indicate that the car will retain its familiar dashboard (with MZD Connect display screen) and three-pod instrument cluster layout. Cabin updates include a new steering wheel design and more importantly, the introduction of an electronic parking brake.
The new 3 is also set to feature G-Vectoring Control, a new technology which Mazda claims reduces the steering angle at turn-in, as well as the rate at which one turns the wheel. This is achieved by reducing engine torque by modifying the car’s ignition timing, corresponding to steering input.

Don’t worry, prices are going UP and UP. Petrol gone up, ford prices gone up and now Bermaz also said, red colour will cost more than the rest.
But after Raya, there is more good news. Mazda prices going to go higher across the board.

May be u don’t understand what is spy shot.
This is jepunis car, bashers said cannot persoal. If p1 do like this the bashing will reach 9000 comments.
But these pipu can accept a different paint job from their overlords and call this “facelift”
At least jepunis dont turn a cheap rebadge into a flagship model
I wonder when would this be out in Malaysia! Anyone got a clue?
most important is….WHEN IS IT COMING TO MALAYSIA???? AND WHAT IS THE PRICING????
I feel like the old one looks better
Did anyone notice the spyshots interior appear to show a left-hand drive version – but Japan is a right-hand drive country!
Not a JDM model??
Perhaps, it’s meant for US & Europe.
Japan drives on the left.
Abang, Japan drive on right which identical to Malaysia and most British colonial. U could see why so many re-cond Estima and Alphard from Japan.
Some of the spyshots were from China, in particular those of the interior, which explains the left-hand drive.
They still make them in Japan, lol
I think normal handbrake is better than e-brake. And can do donut wth that..
People who do donuts cant afford this car in Malaysia
Haha good try…but a load of donut nowdays oso have good income…some of them never use tongkat.
If you day so
actually the pre facelift headlamps looks better
So this is a Face-Down ?? Yes, I agree the pre-facelift is that more sharper looking.
Why go thru all fuss? our prayers have been answered by the advent of civic! forget the 3s, dinasour altis, the weirdo sylphy.
