Dakar rally bikes, with ultra-tall suspensions, over-sized fuel tanks and two-cylinder engines, have long been popular with a segment of the motorcycling public. It looks like Yamaha wants to get back in the game with the Yamaha T7 Tenere Concept.
Unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, the T7 Tenere Concept takes the 689 cc, 74.8 PS Crossplane 2 engine from the Yamaha MT-07, and plonks into this super-tall, lifted frame rolling on a 21-inch wheel in front and 18-incher in the rear. The engine is supplemented with an aluminium large capacity fuel tank and custom Akrapovic exhaust.
Other add-ons on the Yamaha T7 Tenere Concept include a carbon-fibre fairing, skid plate and four-element projector LED headlight. While Yamaha has not confirmed if or when the T7 Concept will go into production, if crowd response at EICMA is good, this concept bike might just make it to the showroom floor.
