Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet for LA Auto Show

If the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet isn’t luxurious enough for your liking, look forward to the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, where the company will soon unveil the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet.

First things first, only 300 units of the drop-top Maybach will be made, and each will likely cost a pretty penny. As far as the teaser shows, there’s plenty of unique elements to be seen, including the badging, plush leather seats, chrome accents on the lower front intake, and a Burmester sound system.

The limited-number model also sports a rim design that appears to be inspired by Mercedes-Maybach S 600 sedan. On the mention of the other Maybach, the Cabriolet will likely retain the same 2,945 mm wheelbase of the regular car, unlike the S 600, which stretches the long-wheelbase S-Class to 3,365 mm (from 3,035 mm).

In other areas, the “S 650” likely points to the company’s 6.0 litre biturbo V12 that lurks under the hood of the Maybach, which could churn out more power than the 530 hp/830 Nm unit found in the S 600 sedan. As the Mercedes-AMG S 65 Cabriolet demonstrates, there’s plenty of potential from the mill, which generates 630 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque in the hot cabriolet.

More details will be revealed when the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet makes its global premiere in LA, so stay tuned.
