Launched back in September this year, we now bring you a detailed gallery of the new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 facelift. The hot four-door coupe sees improvements in a variety of areas but we’ll start with the thing you care about most, the power.

Under the hood, the M133 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine now pumps out 381 hp at 6,000 rpm and 475 Nm at 2,250 to 5,000 rpm, which is an extra 21 hp and 25 Nm compared to before.

Coupled to an AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which has been tweaked for shorter gear ratios, and Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system, the CLA 45 will accomplish the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.2 seconds – 0.4 seconds faster than the pre-facelift version. The car’s top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Our Malaysian-spec CLA 45 comes equipped with AMG-tuned sports suspension but not the AMG Ride Control package that includes two-stage adaptive adjustable dampers (as found on the A 45 facelift). However, it does gain the AMG Dynamic Select knob located behind the gear selector, which allows for different powertrain response modes to be selected.

The added power is equally matched by the more aggressive looks, where the front end adopts a new A-wing design, with front splitter inserts and canards finished in high-gloss black from the optional AMG Aerodynamics package. Other changes include the twin louvre in the radiator grille, now finished in matte silver chrome, as well as the fitment of Mercedes’ LED High Performance headlamps.

Retained here is the familiar CLA profile plus the 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloys finished in titanium black (wrapped with 235/35 section Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres). Moving on to the rear, the diffuser has been redesigned to feature four vertical fins instead of three, while the spoiler lip on the boot is also a part of the aero package.

The AMG trademark quad-exhaust tips are still present, and this particular example receives the stunning designo Polar Silver Magno exterior paint finish. As for the interior, updates include slimmer freestanding 8-inch infotainment display screen, linked to the COMAND Online system, which now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support

The CLA 45 also comes equipped with the AMG Dinamica Cockpit package, where you’ll find the microfibre material on certain trim elements, as well as the Performance steering wheel. Plenty of red details as well, as seen on the sports seat accents, seat belts, steering wheel and air-con vents.

Equipment-wise, the CLA 45 comes with dual-zone automatic climate control (with rear vents) and a panoramic sunroof on top of what was mentioned above. On the safety front, seven airbags comes as standard here, along with Attention Assist, PRE-SAFE and Active Brake Assist systems. How much for all this excellence? The CLA 45 is priced at RM408,888 on-the-road without insurance.

Why buy the CLA 45 at RM408k? As with all high priced Mercedes, within one year, the car will lose 50% of its value.

You must be silly to buy a car for RM400k when one year later you can buy this car for RM200k. The seller will even beg you to take this car from him at RM200k.

Be wise. Always let the first owner bear the heavy first year depreciation.

Bro KK…instead of ranting like a small boy…you should work smarter rather than always talk about depreciation. People who buy these cars definitely don’t share your mentality. Cheers !

Pity Malaysians. This car is priced US49k. That is not that big money in the USA. Fresh grad earn already about US$48k per annum.

In Malaysia, this car is RM400k. Very big money even for a big Datuk or a Tan Sri.

High time for car prices to come down.

Dear bro, this monster AMG Mercedes is only for the Upper middle class Malaysians only.
Its extremely expensive for ordinary Malaysian drivers like myself who are contented with basic cars like KIA Piccanto, Honda Jazz or the top selling Honda City.
For die hards, some of them opt to buy recond but most of us Malaysians would rather get the normal 3 cars stated above. Cheers bro:) No offence:)

Definitely not for Kunta Kinte who drives around in an old Viva whilst secretly lusting for a 400K car

    1) The CLA45 AMG cost 409k. It comes with the located behind the gear selector, which allows for different powertrain response modes to be selected BUT NO AMG Ride Control.

    2) The A-class AMG cost ‘only’ 349k. It has the renown AMG Ride Control BUT NO AMG Dynamic Select knob.

IMO, since the CLA45 cost 60k more, it should include the AMG Ride Control. After all, at 409k, not many people will pay for this ‘small’ car with Big performance.

Merc should NOT be stingy & offer it as a token of appreciation to his customer.
